HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 08/02/1967MINUTES OF MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA AUGUST 1967 Council Meeting Special meeting of the Council of the City of Meeting Petaluma called to by Mayor Helen Putnam at the hour of 11:30 o "clock a.m. Attendance Present: Councilmen Battaglia, Brainerd, Cavanagh, Jr.', Colin, Joerger, Lipman and Mayor Putnam. - Absent: None. Notice of the Call Notice of the SpeciaL.Meeting called for August 2, 1967, the certificate of the City Clerk of the delivery of said notice and the consent of the members of the City Council to the holding of said meeting,.submitted and filed. Recess A recess was declared during which time Mr. Richard Lieb, on behalf of San Francisco Radio Station KABL, presented Mayor Putnam with a Civic Service Award to be announced on August 6, 1967, by KABL naming her Citizen of the Week for her outstand- ing contributions to the welfare of the community Adjournment and the Greater Bay Area. The meeting was called back to order. The time was approximately 11:40 o'clock a.m. Purpose of the The meeting was called to consider submitting Meeting a bid on a 1957 International two -ton truck with a Telsta lift being offered by the Pacific Tele- phone and Telegraph Company. Assistant Fire Chief Joe Ellwood appeared before the Council to discuss the cost and features of the vehicle. - Mr. Ellwood stated that if the City was success- ful in obtaining the bid, the total cost of the vehicle, including the bid and necessary repairs, would be approximately $4,000.00. Following a general discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Joerger, and seconded by Councilman Battaglia, directing that a bid be submitted not to exceed $1,500.00 for the equipment, and if successful, charge the expenditure to the Con- tingency Fund ( #29 -67). Motion carried by 6 affirmative and l negative votes. The negative vote was cast by Councilman Brainerd.
