Absent: Councilman Ellis INVOCATION: Invocation was given by Reverendfred Rusk, Presbyterian Chut6h. APPROVAL OF MINUTES'. Minutes - from the meeting of Dec. 15, 1958, were approved 'as recorded. This being the time set for opening bids I re radio equipment for the City Fire, -Dept, -, the following -bid was and read by the Clerk: Name & Address Total Bid Motorola - Communications & Electronics,. (2) fi I I "^ January 5, 1959 City Manager Report re Request for Increase Storage Charge - First Aid Supplies Civil. Defense Mr.. Frank reported that he had discussed the subject matter with Colo O'Mohundro and the owner of the Vestal Hatchery. After explaining that this was a. matter which would ordinarily be taken up by the Council when preparing the budget for the ensuing fiscal year, Mr. Frank - stated that he Was informed there would be no further request for an increase in storage charges for the present time. Report re Lighting of Gore.- Freeway South of Petaluma The City Manager reported that the p4:ns and specifications on the subject - project had approved, by the - State - Engineers and are now in the hands of the Highway Commission" for its final approval. Councilman King requested to know if anything further had been heard relative to the sidewalk situation near'Ienilwor°th :School and the Freeway. Mr._. SISLER FOR A VARIANCE FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF ZONING ORDINANCE NOD 340 N. C. S. was read and adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Council Committees R[eport re Sewer Service to VQterans Memorial Bldg. Councilman Van.Bebber reported t hat 'the subject Committee had met and discussed this matter and the principal problem being whether or not the charge's to the individual property owners, which would be collected by the County, would be equitable.. The Committee proposed a solution which varied .from that. originally submitted to the County but which it feels provides all concerned with a fair share of the costs. The proposal will have to be approved by the County. Councilman _Van .Bebber stated that it was ,his understanding that the Council was to make `a tour of this project before accepting complefion of'the job. "eyesore" to the - comrriunityo Councilman King felt that these bleachers should not ;be .removed even though they are not In .good .repair, as they do - serve a purpose at times, He stated that - the questi.ori in-the matter would be whether or not the bleachers' would considered dangerous a .stancpoi.nt insurance. - After further-diseussion on the subject; :' it w as the dbcision of the Council to check ::on - the - condition of the subject bleachers when .making the tour of Project #39 next Monday. CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS-' Variance from Bldg. Re - Sealing of -Streets CoLih6ilm4n Crinella requested to know if the Council had��a set policy on the type of; seal,mcoati.ng to`be' used on newly , constructed - City 'streets He stated that he knew of several subdivisions where the s 'was as required to use .the rock seal method-, . and sited the case of Project #39 where the contractor had 'allowed to use the fog seal method, which was less expensive. He felt that the Council should have 'a policy this, City Engineer Al Roberts started that in his opinion, the fog seal method was satisfactory and suitable to be applied to the streets in..Project #39 He explained that the former City. Engineer might ha't'e requested the ,rock seal method for the subdivision streets because of the use of said streets, etc. . City Manager Ed Frank stated that to his knowledge .there is no ,set y polic_ as .to the type of seal to be put on streets.
