Mr.- Frank noted that he had submitted a report to the-Council some
3 or 4 years ago, wherein it was determined that it 'wa s actually cheaper to
trade these cars in every year. With the rising ;cost of new cars in recent
years, however.,. he that another 'study along these lines would'd'etermine
if this procedure was - still. feasible,
The City Manager was directed to submit a report to the Council,
taking into consideration depreciation and all costs involved, before the ,1st
of July.
A resolution awarding the bid to Price' Roche Motors was then adopted
as follows:

Letter from Petaluma ,Chamber of Commerce Feb, 16 1959-,
requesting that a study be made the City regarding the community:'s
off t. street parking problem, read and filed..
Mr. Don Thomas, Manager of the Petaluma Chamber 'of Commerce,
addressed the Council explaining that this ;request had come from the
Merchants Committee . of the Commerce, - because an increased
awareness is now being put on trade in -Petaluma He stated that
they were interested in assuring shoppers of adequate park facilities,,
eppeci.ally during special promotion days, etc. ; -that they would jike additional
parking in the 'centra.l business district. They felt - that if , the City made a
survey, it. might prove - that the parking problem could be eliminated by shorter
parking limits on - the - lots.
Inasmuch as - the - parking limits had been increased at one :time, due
to the req*st of the merchants, Mayor Parent suggested Mr. Thoms
have the - Merchants - Committee of the Chamber of Commerce' ,poll themselves
as to changing the time limits on meters, then .bring :this before the Council
