ROLL CALL- Present:: Councilmen Crinella, Ellis, Gustafson, King Matzen Ian. Bebber and Mayor Parent. Absent: None. APPROVAL OF MINU'T'ES: Minutes from the meeting of Novo 2, 1959, were approved as recorded° PETITIONS .& COMMUNICATIONS: Letter dated Novo 6� 1959, from Crown Development Co., explaining that due to the .steel strike, they have been unable to secure the hollow metal door *rs and aluminum windows which are necessary for the completion of the Kenilworth Recreation Bldg., read and filed, The letter requested that the Council. take the necessary steps to extend the period of time for completion of the. building. The City Attorney was directed to prepare a resolution on this for the next meeting, 'Petition fox Annexation of Grant Ave School Site Petition fr. om the .Pete ldma Board of Education, : Elementary School District, praying -annexation of certain contiguous uninhabited territory owned by the Petaluma City El.em.entary School Distract to the City of Petaluma, read and filed. The City Attorhey 'sta,ted that there was some indication that the School Boa rd'was to dedicate a streerin connection with this annexation, He. believed it was the wish of the City. Engineer that the dedication be made before annexation proceedings .began: City Manager Ed- Frank pointed out that the School Board and the Engineering Dept, are -appare ut in agreement on the - dedication.. The matter was to be f , red later in 'the, meeting. after a phone call was made by MT. Frank in order to secure more information on the status of the street dedication. Proposed Old .Adobe School Site Letter from the office of the County Counsel, signed by Assistant County Counsel' ohn Co. Gaffney and dated Nov. 6' 1959,> requesting an explanation of the Cityls views relative to the sale of certain City property, proposed road development and annexation of the subject school - site to the City., read and filed. Councilman King informed the Council. that the Old Adobe Union School District is interested in purchasing almost 2 acres of City property and extend, - zng Maria Drive in coiixiection the subject school site. Also, they are proposing, that they pay for 1 j2 of the cost of developing . the street and the City pay 1/2 of the cost' and cau.se the work .to be donee Councilman King stated that the C -Ity property which the School Board wishes to acquire does not involve a.ny. water Wells. - Councilman King.. stated that he would arrange a meeting of the Council and the -Old= Adobe School. Board in order. to work the details involved in this matter. "Engineer had discussed the street dedication and were in - agreement on the subject. Although no formal action had .yet, been taken .. by the School Board, the matter 'was on the agenda _for,, the Board. meeting to be held next-Wednesday night. Al.so,. the Council was still, not certain. of the wMi'labibly'of all, the property to be included in the site. He was of the opinion _that a more thorough study should be made of the whole situation before applying for a planning loan on any one :sit :and nd felt t . hat there were many other properties along the - river which might c be equally suitable, or more suitable, for the boat harbo r lo'ation. Mr. John .Cavanagh, Sr. expressed the opinion ghat the turning basin would. be the ideal location for the harbor, He believed Council should proceed with the -application. for a. planning loan based on the turning site.
