INVOCATION:
An invocation prepared for a previous meeting was read by Mayor Parent.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
'Minutes from the meeting of November 7, 1960 were approved as recorded.

School Traffic Safety
Letter ftiom McNear P.. T. A... dated November° 19, 1960, asking that
permanent stops be installed at certain intersections and that sidewalks be placed
on "I"'Street between Sunnyslope, and Olive Stre'e read and filed.
Letter. from Valley Vista . P. T. A, dated .Nov. 16, 1960, endorsing the
action being taken by the Safety Committee to erect permanent stop signs at

Traffic Committee tee report dated Nov. 18 1960, listing installations and/or
changes to' be completed unless otherwise directed by the Council, read and filed.
Councilman Matzen expressed the opinion that stop signs were'not the

the City
Schools, addressed the Council 'expressing. their opposition to junior safety
patrdl.,�!and requesting that stop signs be installed at the various intersections.
Approximately 10"parents having children at Valley Vista or McNear School
addressedjhe Council requesting stop 'signs at the school intersections, better law
enfo same, 'and expressing their disapproval of junior - safety patrols.
Dr David Sis'ler, Valley Vista Schoo!''Dist.rict, stated that he *favored the
use of junior safety pa"tro1sand believed they. were very effective.

Councilman King stated that 'he'would 'be: in .favor of waiting:for a- -recom
mendation from the Commission on this before taking any actiono However,:
in this case, he did not believe the proposed radio equipment should be installed
at the present Water Dept. office at this time.
Toe majority -of. the Council seemed to feel that the Water' Dept.. should be
moved to .the City Hall eventually, but there was a difference of opinion as to
whether the move should be made immediately, as recommended by the City,
Manager, or if the request of the Commission for time to study the;,rmatter should
be granted. A motion was ma de -'by Councilman Ellis., seconded by' Councilman.

for the purpose of acquiring. the necessary items 'for `this project,
councilman King questioned the Chamber of C'om coerce request, noting
that .they 'h.ad originally planned to pay for these decorations.
Mr. Don Thorns,. Pettaluma Chamber of Commer°ee, addressed the Council
explaining that the tree planned for Center - Parlt this year would be much larger
a;50 more elaborate than in previous years.
.It was also pointed out that the initial expense for the decorations for
this type of tree would be greater a However,. the decorations would be usable
from year to year thereafter.
After further discussion on the subject, a motion was made by Councilman
Gustafson,, seconded by Councilman Matzen- that the subject request be granted„
