Councilman King felt that it might be well to have the staff prepare a
financial statement of the cost involved so that the Council. might go ove.r. the
matter comp etely before acting. on any recommendation of the ;corrimittee
relative to Appointment -of. an engineer for the subject project. The Council ways
in agreement with :this suggestion.

Following some discussion on th.e subject, a motion was. made by Council -
md,n King, .seconded by Councilman Ellis, that the Council is in favor of the
State L'egslature sponsoring an addition to the In Lieu Tax for this project, but
the`Counc`il would not look unfavorably upon an increase in Gas Tax if this were
more acceptable to the Legsl:atureo The motion carried by 5 affirmative votes,
2 absentees.
The. City Manager was directed to notify Mr, Ryersen, League of Calif.

Councilman King referred to Section S. 00 of the proposed ordinance,
stating that he did not believe this section should be left in .the ordinance. , The

requesting $200.00 from the City for referee services for the Recreation
$asketball League, He stated the Recreation Commission had referred
his: group to the Council for its decision it t -he�matter, Mr. Lentz noted -that
money for . the league had been provided in the Recreation budget i.n past years,
but - had .not been shown as an individual. item.
? Councilman King.: suggested that the staff check into this to determine
if the item had been left out of this year's budget as an oversight and if it -had
been included in prev . iou-s years.

City, _Manager Lawrence Larson asked' the Council: ° s permission to
purchase, fire extinguishers. for the Kenilworth Recreation .B'uilding 'at a cost
of approx mately $110.00 and charge the cost 'of. this equipment - to the Kenilworth
Recreation Bidga -- Constr uction. F. - He rioted that there were ample funds in.
this account; to'cover the purchase and that the fare extinguishers were a - necessity.
A motion was made by Councilman Gustafson, seconded by Councilman
Matzen,, that the fire 'extinguishers be purchasedand paid as requested. The
motion car'tied by 5 affirmative rotes, 2 absentees.
Mr. Larson reported' on a meeting with the Administrator of the new Novato
General Hospital which he had attended today' with the Petaluma Fire Chief and
Police Chief. Since the opening of th'e new hospital,, he stated that it had been
proposed that all ambulance calls answered :bel'oW °the Marin- :Sonoma County
line be taken to the new hospital in Novato unless a definite hospital was specified
Mr'.. Larson noted that this procedure appeared to be acceptable to all who had
attended ,the .meeting. However; the matter had not yet been discussed with the
local hospital authorities, He assured the Council that this would be done before
legislation on the matter was presented.
