Regular meeting of the Council of the -City of Petaluma called to order by
Mayor Matzen.
ROLL 'CALL:
Present: Councilmen Colin Crinella, Ellis,' Gustafson, Solomon,
Van Bebber and Mayor Matzen.
Absent: None.
INVOCATION,
In the absence of Reverend Magnussen, an invocation which had been
prepared for a previous meeting was read- by Mayor Matzen.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes from the meeting of October 1 ; 1962, were approved as recorded.
CONSIDERATION OF BIDS:
Purchase of 3 Automobiles Police "Dept.
Letter - dated Oct. 15, 19 2, signed by Glenn E. - Seifert, Glenn Buick,
stating that an error .in addition, had been made on their bid on the Police cars,
read'and filed. The letter pointed out. that 'Proposal 42 should have been $5, 400. 00,
rather than $4, 400.00.
Councilman Crinella then made a motion that Glenn Buick be' allowed -to
withdraw .its bid. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gustafson and carried
by 7 affirmative votes.
Summa "ry of bids received and opened on Oct. 11, 1962, re purchase of
3 new poi'ice ,cars, submitted and filed. <
Of the': 3 bids received, City Manager Robert Meyer stated that, since the
w ithdrawa . of the Glenn Buick bid, :Sand`'Orson Motor Co. would now be the low
bidder; whereupon,

THREE. (3) NEW 1963 MODEL SEDAN AUTOMOBILES FOR THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT.
was adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Councilman Gustafson felt that the Council should at this time order the
proper legislation prepared in order to call for bids on a fourth police car. He
stated that-Mr.. Sanderson had assured him that if`th.e City desired the fourth
car;,*, the unit price on .this would be'the same as for the other three'cars.
Councilman Gustafson was of the opinion that if the - fourth police car was not
traded at this time,. repair bills could run quite high.

City Attorney was directed to prepare an ordinance' authorizing same. This
ordinance was to be.presented at the adjourned meeting to be held Oct. 16, 1962.

City.Planning Director Bob Byrd informed the Council, of the present status
of the 'subject subdivision, stating- that the ,tentative map had been approved by
the City Planning Commission. .,Mr. � Sarkesian had presented a proposal to
annex a small -site and,. for several, reasons,, the staff did not feel
that this particular -piece of land should be annexed, Pointing out some of the
o6j'ectionsio the annexation, •Mr. Byrd stated- that it.'w'as"the policy of . -the-City •
to'annex only along property lines when possible; the pr'opos.ed'location was very
bad from a� standpoint of utility development; etc.- The prbpo'sed.al'inexation
jcontained' approximately .10 15 acres,
Mr., , Sarkesian addressed the Council explaining that he planned to construct
only ,a few homes at a, time on, this property and did not wish to annex the entire
area at this -time but merely the portion of land on which he would build- in the
near future,.

Mr. .Weyer suggested that .the Council also give consideration to the

Mr. Meyer stated that he hoped to have a report regarding the status
of Vallejo Street for the next Council meeting,
Mayor Matzen :informed the C6uncil of an invitation which hdd been

extended to the Council to attend a reception -for a foreign exchange student on
Oct., 17, 1962. The,reception was to beheld at the McNear School: between

Councilman Gustafson stated that'hehad received a complaint concerning
the. weeds growing at the corner `of Washington & Ellis Streets.
' It was directed, -that the property owners be notified of this hazard and
asked'to.eliminate the problem as soon as possible.
, ,O z behalf of; the-Library Board, Councilman, Crinella stated that he wished
to thank "the Council for its cooperation on the library bond' election, He
commended ,the A rgus- Courier the.wonderful job done in printing the -facts
on the matter and thanked Radio Station KTOB for its help also. '
� The n-iayor asked that Councilman Crinella convey his thanks to the '
Library Board for all its work on the election at the next Board meeting.
