She felt the .taxes would be increased considerably -for those having acreage !thereby making the. cost extremely burdensome. She also thought the boundaries should be revised to include , those who wanted to be in the City and those with a sewer problem. Kelly, President of Employees' Association, addressed the-Council stating -that on, behalf of the , employees he would personally like to thank the Council to the salary. increase and that the employees are looking forward to the salary survey t be conducted ,by the State Personnel Board. Openings in the bottom of these fences and,gateshave been filled in. A man is employed practically all day to wet down the -unloading area, clean the yard etc. The, truck -spillage problem was solved by y rerouting all trucks that leave the `plant down Hopper Street instead of Wilson Street. Residents in the area addressed the stating that the problem, as stated in their petition, has not been solved. There was general agreement that the appeared unchanged. There being no objections from the Council, the -Mayor extended the time until the next regularmeeting of the Council to give .the C" ity Manager and Director of Public Works time -to confer with Mr. Brody to see what other measures could be taken. After much discussion, the Mayor stated he wanted it clearly under =stood the deci- sion to be made was a matter of Council policy and would not cast any reflection on Novak. The Mayor explained since the resolution was written in the negative, an "aye" vote would turn down -the assessment district, procedure for residential developments; a "no ", vote would be in favor of assessment district for residential developments. Because of bp agenda and the late hour, the Mayor` asked for the report to be _ held over until'the next regular Council- meeting. Answering a question by Councilman Ellis, the City Manager said he would see -that- something wa-s done about; the weeds at 6 1Cour-t. The ,Mayor introduced Dr. Timmer from Holland and apologized for the lengthy agenda. The Dr. said he enjoyed the meeting and appreciated the opportunity to learn more about our government. Mr.. John Morgan, addressed the - Council, on behalf of the , Chamber of Com- merce, thanked the. Council for the: advance of funds to the �Chamfier.
