Regular meeting of the Council of the -City of Petaluma called to order by
Mayor Van Bebber,

INVOCATION:
In the -absence of Reverend Wayne J. Jarboe, the, invocation was given by
Councilman Herbert C. Gans.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes from the meeting of November 18, 1963, were approved as recorded.

grant Mr. Mitchell a 15 ft. easement, or to pay when connected, or to have an
assessment district, which would include their properties. Councilman Gans believed
whatev"e'r , action is taken now depends 'on Mr. Mitchell's decision. He further stated

The Mayor appointed Councilmen Colin, Ellis, and Gans to.work�with the City
Manager for th&fpresentation of the new sewer ordinance ,to the, December 16.

Weed Abatement
92 - This being the time set for 'hearing of protests and comments relative -to the
weed abatement program, the City Clerk announced that no written protests . been
received.
Bessie E. Chenault, 32 .West Street, addressed .the Council protesting, the
weed abatement *notice because , she did not own the property.
This protest was cleared, up by -the - explanation that the City is required to give
notice as per the last assessment roll and somet mes the records are not always - up
to date.
Alma Bus'sman, property owner at Cherry and Magnolia, addressed the Council
stating she would take care of .the weeds on the, Cherry -side but she did not want to
take care of the weeds on - Magnolia.
Captain ,Ellwood pointed out the minimum price is $11. 25 and since ,the strip.
along this parcel does not measure 6000 square .feet, both sides could be sprayed for
the same price.

store. To qualify, a minimum of 50 must be accepted and there is no reimbursement

. Proposed planting of trees along Petaluma River
Report of Director of Planning, recommending the planting of Lombardi :Poplars
every ten feet along the east bank of the Petaluma River through the Central Business
District, read and filed.
After some discussion, a poll, was taken to determine the interest of the Council
in this project. Roll Call on this matter carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen. Brainerd, Cavanagh, Jr., Colin, Ellis, Gans, and Mayor
Van Bebber.
Noes; Councilman Colin.
Absent- Councilman Battaglia,
To a question by Councilman :Ellis, the Planning Director, said he would check
with the - University of California to see if any other tree would be suitable for this
purpose.
The City Attorney was directed to check the tree ordinance to see if an, am'end-
ment would be necessary.

City Manager Rober ;t Meyer reported that during the aa:s't five: years, due to
costly disability claim -s:by- City employees, the compensation insurance modification
rates ,had increased from 1047 ,to 11447.

It was the -decision of the Council to send get well -cards to the employees who
have,,- been '1inj'ured while on the job. In order to expedite the matter, it was decided
the Mayor - would sign the card for the Council.

Fire .Chief Clarence Baal suggested that the Council, at budget - time, consider
purch singi new ambulance and .retiring the Cadillac to reserve use.
