Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order by
Mayor Van Bebber.
ROLL CALL.
Present: Councilmen Battaglia; Brainerd, Cavanagh Jr., Colin, Ellis,
Gans, and Mayor Van Bebber.
Absent; None

In the absence of Revere nd Rankin, the invocation was given by Reverend

PUBLIC HEARING:
North Petaluma Annexation No. 5
This being'the time set for hearing of. protests .and comments on the subject
annexation, the City Clerk announced that no written protests had been received. There
being no comments from members of the Council or audience,

Report on, bid opening on subjects project dated .November 2, 1964, signed by
the 'Fire Chief and recorrimei d -hig that the contract be awarded to the Pacific Coach and
Ambulance Sales Company, submitted and filed.
It was the general opinion of the Council that the alternate bids, ( which included
two -way radio and air horn) of Pacific Coach and Ambulance Sales Company be accepted
and that the trade -in of the Bluick ambulance be eliminated from the bid.
-The City Manager was directed to look into the disposal of the Buick ambulance
and report back to the Council at the next regular' meeting, whereupon

and County Government hearing to be held 10 :00 a, m. , on November 13, 1964, at Marin

and suggestions for legislative changes for 1965, submitted and filed.
Letter from Novato Chamber: of Comiii rr.;ce, dated. October 29, .1964, re
offering assistance on the Petaluma River Project, - read and filed,
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS:
Police Chief
.Police Chief Del Maestro addressed the Council commenting Petaluma experi-
enced one of the quietest Halloweens. The Chief added that the Petaluma Citizens Radio,
1 Inc assisted the Police Department as observers throughout the Cityand would radio in
r information regarding pranksters. The Chief felt that because the assistance given
by this Club, a, savings of approximately $$0'. 00 was made si ce,_the Department needed
only two auxiliary policemen.' and usually twelve auxiliary are hired on Hall
oween.
Councilman Ellis made a motion, seconded. by Councilman, Gans, that a letter
of thanks and a check in the.amouint of $25:00 b'e sent to the Petaluma. Citizens Radio,
Inc. expressing the City's appreciation for radio services rendered. - .Roll -Call on this
motion carried by 7 affirmative votes:.

Northeast Annexation No. 4,
A ssstait City Manager Robert Byrd pointed out the location - of the proposed
annexation on the map and informed the Council that this annexation would be filed
with the Local Agency Format ion,Commiss ion -on November -5; .1964:

the next regular meeting.

Answering a questlon.by, the Mayor. 'Mr. Byrd reported that the Planning C om-
mission. hdd tried to: :oblige: developers by calling meetings but that this privilege was
being abused. The Council concurred that calling special meetings should be an excep-
tion and not a rule.
