Attendance Present: Councilmen Brainerd, Cavanagh, Jr., Colin, Ellis, Gans, and Mayor Van Bebber. Absent: Councilman. Battaglia. Arcade from Keller -The Mayor informed the Council that he had received a call to Petaluma 'Blvd.'North from Stuart Walsh and that Mr. Walsh would like to present a plan to the Council on January 4 to include phases of economic survey, to determine the amount and type of /V_ business, and a general plan of improving the downtown area, and finally a method of financing. The City Manager briefly. reviewed the parking meter funds and it was felt that the City could contribute up to $20 000 from this fund which would „indicate the City's willingness to co- operate for the redevelopment of the downtown area. Fred Mattei, Howard Heggum, acid former Mayor Art Parent addressed the Council requesting City assistance and at the same time pointing out the benefit to the entire community of such a program. After considerable discussion, Councilman Gans made a motion, seconded by Councilman Ellis, that the City express its intention to contribute up to $20, 000 for the acquisition and construction of a walkway beginning at the alley of Kentucky and Keller and going toward Petaluma Boulevard North, motion carried by 4 affirmative votes, 2 negative, and 1 ,absentee. Mayor Van Bebber appointed Councilmen Gans and Ellis and Councilman Brainerd to serve as Chairman of A Committee to negotiate with the Wells Fargo Bank. -5- 342 Mutual Arid Agreement Police Department .
