June 21, 1965
Counc -'L Meeting. Regular meeting of the Council of the City of. Petaluma
called to order by Mayor Van Bebber at the hour of
7:30 o'clock p. m.
Attendance Present: Councilmen Battaglia, Brainerd, Cavanagh,
Jr., Colin, Ellis, and Mayor Van Bebber.
Absent: Councilman Gans.
Ilivocation The invocation was given by Reverend Henry N. Rankin,
Two Rock Valley Presbyterian Church.
Minutes The minutes from the meetings of Julie 7, and June 14,
1965, were approved as recorded.
Gasoline Rid Report on bid opening June 18, 1965, signed by the
Res. #428:9 NCS Director of Finance, C. G. Gealta, and recommending 1 �
award of contract to Richfield Oil Compan- submitted
and filed It was noted that the bid of Standard Oil was
slightly higher than Richfield Oil and would amount to
approximately $17. 00 based on this year's consumption.
Since Standard Oil was. located within the City Limits
and the difference between the two. bids was so small, it
was the feeling of the Council that the contract should be
awarded to Standard Oil. Resolution #4289 N. C. S. award-
ing contract to Standard Oil Company, Erwin Street,
Petaluma, for the furnishing of gasoline for the fiscal
year 1965-66, was introduced by Councilman Brainerd,
seconded by Councilman Ellis, and adopted by 'O
affirmative votes, 1 absentee.

Councilmen, Resolution awarding contract for the
purchase of -an air conditioning and ventilating
system was withdrawn. Councilman Colin made =a ,
seconded by Councilman Battaglia, that all bids be
rejected. Roll ca1l on this motion carried by 6
affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
Dr. Sam Brown Letter, dated June 19, 1965, from Dr. Sam Brown sub -
Resignatoi muting resignation from Board of. Library Trustees
Library 'Board effective June 30, 1965, and thanking the Mayor and
Council for their support with the library-and its
problems, • read and filed. � Formal acceptance of this
resignation was reserved until the new Council is
seated.

Water Meter.

Purchase Approval
Young addressed the'Council, stating that the price-=
of water meters is. increasing five per 1ceilit (57) as
of June 30th and that we anticipate approximately
541 new homes from the. subdivisions now in progress.
He added that the Water Department could save about
$'1, 400. 00 if the meters were purchased before June
.30th. Councilman Colin .made a motion, . seconded
by Councilman Brainerd, that the 'Staff be authorized
to make. this purchase,
