Council Moeting Adjourned meeting; of the Council of the City of
Petaruma called to order by Mayor Van Bebber at the
- hour of '7:30 o'clock p. m.
Attendance Present: ' Councilmen Brainerd, Cavanagh, Jr., Colin,
T Ellis, Gans, 'and Mayor Van Bebber.
'Absent: Councilman Battaglia.
Library - Painting Director of Public Works David Young reported that
Project M=2 - one bid had' been received from Hakon Hansen for the
Res. #4800 NCS subject project, which bid appears reasoi and
recommended that' said bid be accepted, whereupon
Resolution #4a0J N. C. S. .,awarding contract for Lib-
" racy Painting, .Project M -2 -64, was introduced by
Councilman Brainerd, seconded by Councilman Gans,
and adopted by 6-affirmative votes, 1 absentee.

After witnessing the'l recent fire at Cader's Truck.
Stop oii Lakeville Highway, Councilman, Ellis stated
he agafin realized the City's need to obtain a tanker
for use in such areas as Lakeville and .Denman.
City`Mef ages Meyer said it was hoped to purchase:
one - through surplds this year and that the $5, 000
will be rehudgeted in 1965 -66 for tanker equipmeizt
purposes.'
Coancilman .Ellis complimented the Fire Department
for the fine way in which they handled the. above-
mentioAbd'fire.
Manhole C overs
Councilman Colin, noted that in the City Mana:ger's .
General' Report the concrete manhole lids are being
replaced by .ca'st iron lids in the McDowell area,
and in answer to 'his question, Mr,. Meyer sa °id that
there is not a great: expense involved inthe ,hinge,-
over and. that Ce�`neiit covers are not 'being - specified
for subdivisions.
Statements of The City .Manager at this time expressed his pleasure
Appreciation in workiiig with Mayor' Van Bzbber, Councilman Battag
lia and Councilma n Ellis for the past three years
.and on behalf of himself and the staff, wished them
well in their future ventures

Councilman Ellis - thanked the staff; City employees;
the past and present Cow ici'ls, and the Commissions for
their great help and assistance, and wished the new
Council a very successful term. He also asked the
new Council to protect the present industries in
Petaluma because:; he added, they help the whole City
to progress by supplementing to taxes and payrolls.
He ended by thanking Mayor Va -n Bebber for his great
help and all his work.
Councilman Brainerd and Councilman Gans also ex-
pressed their enjoyment in working with the three
outgoing Council members.
Mayor Van Bebber expressed his pleasant association
with the Council and his thankfulness for all the
help -the staff has given. He highly praised the
ministerial group Who so faithfully lead -the
invocation - at the - Council. meetings during the past
few years 'which he stated, added materially to
the seriousness and decorum of the meetings. He
concluded -:his statement by reading an appropriate
poem.
Keith Takahashi, Argus=Courier reporter, who is
leaving the local newspaper, told the Council about.
a trip he his -wife are planning to - the Orient
and commented on the very valuable training he has
received from his association with the Council.
Mayor Van Bebber annouizced that at 12 O'clock noon
on July 1, 1965,, 'a ceremony will take placein the
Council Chambers to welcome the new .Council.
There being no further business to come'before the
meeting,: the meeting was adjourned.
