I - Total GRAND TOTAL $80,850. $56,000. Councilmen. Adams and King, the Committee appointed .to �dy work; explained that they recommended much over work on the City streets because .of he lack of funds for reconstruction of all the streets which were in need of repairs. Their opinion was that the overlayVork as proposed will save considerable money on maintenance of these streets and also put them in shape for a number of years. Councilman Adams reported that all of 'the suggested projects 'as now revised, were not entirely approved by the City Engineer; such, a S t construction of 'Oak Street Ext, without curbs and` gutters and the overlay of B St. which will be ,subject to State Approval. Ca & - Bridge St; Improvement - Cont. adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 1 absentee, QD N81 z DERATION OF UNFINISHED BUSINESS: :Codification of Ordinances City Attorney Ed Robert reported that he had discussed this matter with representatives of a firm which does such work, and that two prices 1 1 had'_been quoted; one for mimeographing the ordinances and one for printing the ordinances. .'Fallowing some on the subject, it was decided that a rEfresentative of this firm should appear before 'the Council to further explain the process and answer any questions which the' Council might have in mind. The City Attprney was directed to write the firm, requesting that a representative meet with the Council on the 27 th , of this month, if possible. Councilman Brown, exl lained'why he had voted "no" on the Bridge St. reconstruction ordinance wYien it had been introduced and "yes" when it was a 'r.)pted evening. He stated that he understood this work would include ,. e..i.nstallation of a 30" storm drain.which he did not believe would be requirbd - bn Bridge St; Councilman, Brown wont on to say that he had checked . into the flooding probl -m - on, _Bridge, St. and, after explaining the situation in detail suggested that a new ditch be built where the box culverts come out from under Main :Street; then ask Mr. Woodworth if the City may open up I?.s levee. and allow the water to flow through its natural course. He believed t?ls ya.ould eliminate the flooding on Bridge Street. Frank reported that the Engineering Dept. is. now working on this problem, and in approximately the` same manner as he had suggested. Councilman 'King remarked` that he believed a Councilman should be appointed immeda ely'to fi1L the` vacancy created by the resignation of (�nu Norwood. Mayor Schoenngh informed Councilman. King. that two letters had been receiv€ d from two different women's organizations,, :both suggesting that a woman be appointed to this office.
