Petaluma. -Band Mr Leonard`Heyward addressed the Council outbm'ng the functions of; the Petaluma :Band. "' He then introducedNlVlr: Cory, Director of the band Mr. Cory addressed the Council requesting to know if the City of - Petaluma wanted a `band; if this band should go under the name of "P.etalun`a Municipal Band "; and if so would the Council be willing to provide some financial. backing for the-band. ' He stated that it was necessary for'the, band to olitain funds for the`.purpose of purchasing uniforms,. musk,, etc.. Following discussion as to -the cost of uniforms, music,- etc the . matter was referred to the Recreation, Parks & Music Commission for study. Company for payment of a parking lot fence, should come out of the Parking Meter District Fund. The Clerk explained that this fence was for the "'A" Street Parking Lot which was not imthe parking meter di.strict; therefore the' claim was properly drawn on the e:gular parking . meter fund. Afte _considerable discussion as to whether or not the City should set a definite .policy on future annexations at this time, and if so,: what the policy should be two informal polls were taken by Mayor Schoeningh which revealed - ,that a majority of the Council would favor a resolution' stating that , it would be .. the policy of the Council to annex to the Petaluma Elementary 'School Dist. all 'hoW subdivisions which are contiguous to the Petaluma, Elementary School Di 1 t—. Mayor Schoen ngh informed 'Mr. Bionda, and Mrs. Eldridge,- however, that this was merely an informal - poll which indicated the feelings of the Council at this time In accordance with the request of Councilmen Gustafson and Crinella, the 'City Attorney was directed to prepare two resolutions for the next meeting; '. one, requested by Councilman Gustafson, stating that all future annexations will bo left;out of the Petaluma Elementa School'Dist: , and one in accordance with w the request of Councilman Crinella stating that new annexations, which are contiguous to the Petaluma Elementary School Dist. will A be taken into the Dist. Mr. Ingram also informed ithe Council that the local Division, of Highways had taken the stand that these routes -were in suitable condition. City .Attorney Ed Robert informed the Council that he could find nothing to date i`n the Highway Code which 'wou'ld compel "thee State to repair these streets as outlined by the City Engineer before relinquishing them to the City. After some discussion as to what course of action should be taken, it was the decision of the Council 'to have a resolution prepared :and. sent to the State Div; of Highways, stating that the .City, Council finds that these roads are slit need of certain repairs as found by the City Engineer;- and the. Council requests that the State bring these streets up to standard as set forth by the City Engineer. :I'he City Engineer's report on this matter was be attached to the "resolution. With the permissibn of the Council, Mayor Sclioeningh stated that he ='wou]&wsr to a letter to Assemblyman McCollister and Senator Abshire,. asking their advice on how to proceed, Councilman.
