INVOCATION: Invocation was given by Reverend Nicholas Taylor, Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. The City'Manager was directed to keep in touch with Mr. Sturgis relative :to the Cherry Valley Sewer project, and to rush the matter as much as %possible. To a question by Councilman King regarding. S. , the City Attbrney answered- that- he believed it would be wise to h an assessment attorney for this project. - The City*Attorney was directed to proceed with the ne . cessaty legilation on Asseissment - Dist. #3 N. S. The City Engineer was directed to draw up plans & specifications for the work. 'Report re Repairs Made to "B" St. Over Sewer Line Recently Installed City Engineer Russell Ingram gave an oral. report on the subject street explaining that there is a section of "B" Street at the upper end 'that, has not. been completed; the reason being that ther'e lateral from the catch-'basin to the :storm ,drain manhole in the center of the. intersection which as l6ftan open ditch. He stated that this would be taken care of upon the construction of the street there. A 5 minute recess was- called at this time. "Councilinah Bigelow was e xcused. from the meeting. Parking Area A letter received fr`biA the Chamber of Commerce and lead at the - meeting' of May 6 1957; requesting consideration by the , Council of a truck parking area in the City,, was reread ,by the Clerk at this time. "At the`,suggestion. of Councilman King, the matter was referred to the Traff =ic Committee for discussion with the Cha.mber.-of. Commerce. . Traffic Committee Report .;�. Re Request for Installation..of Traffic Signals at Payran & Eo Wash., Streets Mrs Marvin Porritt;" r "epresei tative of the McKinley P T. AA; , addressed the-;Council requesting to know if the City intended to .take any further action regarding traffic control at the corner of East Washes: ,& Payran. Streets.. She wondered if - the AlVay 'stop- ,signs which were recently ;installed would remain there permanently, or if 'the Coun:cA had something else in mind for the solution to the problem; . Mrs. Porritt stated that the McKinley P. T. A. was in favor of installation of. a flashing yellow light at the intersection.. Discussion followed `during Which many members of the Council expressed the :opinion that' a. Junior Safety Patrol would be the solution to the traffic problem at school intersections City - Manager Ed Frank ,informed the Council that the Traffic Committee had .recently compiled a report, which was not on the agenda recommending that, the Junior Safety "Patrgi be reactivated in the City of .Petaluma° Mr. Frank noted ;that there Was attacfi.ed to the report a.copy of''the Administrative Code of the State of Calif. , relative to school safety patroIse A Traffic Committee report 'dated May 20, 195.7, recommending and submitting a plan :of safety devices for school crossings to'be `used in conjunction with a. Mr. John -Gibb addressed the Council suggesting that;a r`ep =. resentatve be appointed to the 'Traffic Committee. He, also,.suggested that a member the Board of Education be appointed 'to the City Planning °Corrimissioi . Acting Mayor Brown assured Mr. Gibbs .that his" suggestions would be -, given due consideration, . Re Mutual',Fire. Agreement with Two Rock Ranch Station City Attorney Ed Robert informed the, Council that the sdblect agreement had been called to , attention by Fire Chief Eagjim .He .slated that. the former. Fire Chlef' h_ad ma.dd a habit of signing this agreement :in the past, bu Mr'.
