Co n ilm:an Crinella regardi the sidewa=lk situation on Edith Street, City Engi.n.eer Russell Ingram explained that: the matter of sidewalk rep'a.i.r°s wa =s being taken. care of now,. and that the program. of of sidewalks on streets where none cxisted.would betaken care of -a.:s spon as the sidewalk repair program. was completed, Re Poor Condition of 2.0locks of Madison Street To another question 'by Councilman Crinella, Mr. Ingram stated ,that the two blocks on Madison St. which were in poor condition had been included in th.e plans for .A.sse.ssment' District No. g N, S which he hoped to have under way in the near futu re. M eters on Keller St. Parking Lot `Counc.ilffi.dh King -infottnled the" Council that he had received some co mplaints regarding the wording cn the parking meters on the K.ell:er St. lot. He believed the word=ing on these meters which' states, "use nickel or a dime ", is' very fnisl.eading, a.nd that it shoul=d be changed or tha=t . the meters should gives 4 .hours parking for . 100- Councilman Adam :s noted that t =he meters vhich take . either' a dime or a nickel .for.. 2 hours parking were installed for the conveinience of the people using theirs'. Mayor Schoeningh remarked that t - he time lim=it on this :lot...had .been changed at the request of members - of the Chamber of Commerce: The City Manager stated that the time limit. - change's on the various lots 2n. town`h:a.d not been in effect long 'enough yet to determine just how this arrangement is worki=ng out financially; however a separate report of revenues collected on ea -ch lot is being kept for comparison before and. after the changes were put into effect. Stop - s=igns on 8th Street Couneilm.a:n Ada=ms requested to know if the Traffic Committee had a rec =omm..enda:ti.on to make regarding the installation of stop -signs on 8th St. , corner of 8th & "G" Streets.. Mr. Frank reported "that the Traffic Committeee was observing this 7.ntersection and' : at this time would: recommend . that school crossi lanes be p=ainted at the intersection in two places; on "G'" St. on the McNea.r School. side-of the street, and on 8th St. on the nearest si =de crossing to the McNea.r School; also, the Committee would recommend the usual school. crossing " warnings a:t the i:nterseet.ion. Mr. Frank went on to say that the Traffic Committee had planned on fbrther study of this matter , an.d submission of their recommendations to the Council in time for the work to 'be' done before the .opening of school this Fall. Traffic Problem Near McNear. Par Coutdilma.n Bigelow stated that he 'had. been asked by severa=l people if there. wa - anything in the law restricting the speed limit to 15 miles per hr. maces r play areas such as M Park, The matter was referred. to the Traffic Com mittee. Re Insura=nce Bids Cou.nci.lmAn Brown, - C'hairm.a:n of the Insurance Committee requested the Council.'`s permission to- obtain. outside advice on the bids received. The Council vo'ice'd no objecti=on. to this line of procedure as long as the adviser would not be prejudiced.
