To a question by Schoeningh, City Gladys Wallin stated that
she believed the amount of $332.35, which the County requested be refunded to
them:, Was justified by the report; that the overcharge to the County had come
about through the commingling of : utility bills for both, the City Hall & Police
Sta.tio%l;,, where one meter covered both buildings.
The matter was referred to the City Attorney for necessary legislation.

Mayor Schoeningh at this time' expressed his appreciation to these
people for their time spent in serving the City.

'Letter from. Petaluma Board of Education dated June 13, 1957,
requesting that the Council 'consider the formation of a Joint Committee of the
Council and Board of Education, read and filed..
Mayor Schoeningh stated that he believed this. would involve the
estdblishment of a standing committee, 'and that the matter should be held over
until the new Council " took office on July 1
:.. The Clerk was directed to acknowledge the letter stating that action
on this: matter would be deferred until the new Council took office.

City Attorney explained his understanding of this situation, that the incidental
Costs and. expenses included. in connection.wlth the assessment proceedings

Councilman Gu tafson suggested that letters be written to the: Board
of Education, Fair Board and Chamber of Commerce `requesting that: each -
group suggest: names of members as .ca:ndida:tes for the City Planning
Commission and Recreation .Com;mis'siona
Following discussion on the subject, the City Clekk'was directed to _.
write to these various groups, requesting names of their members as e
candida,tes .fox the Planning and Recreation Commissions,- as suggested by
Councilman Gustafson, aInd asking for° any recommendations they might have
relative to bringing about betxer liaison among these groups a.nd'th-e City- Council.
T`be letters were to be approved by the Mayor and Council'mnan Gustafson before'
mailing.
Councilman Gustafson recorri.mended that the stop ®sign on B'odega Ave :
leaving town be remoVed' noun that school was out. He stated that there'Were
v few people using . the crosswalk 'at this spot, and he believed the `sign wa:s-
not necessary at this time.
Mr, Frank stated that .his matter- would be included in a Traffic Committee
report which.will be submitted at the first meeting in July.
At the request of Councilman King the' City Attorney vcias directed to
check on the legality, of stop -signs which the Council •recently or''dered
installed on Bodega Ave.,, Western Aire., and E. WAshington St.', '10avi toviin,
Mr. Bob Wells, .Argus' °C_ou.rer reporter, addressed the Council stating
that, inasmuch as this was their last regular'meeting, he would .like to wish
them "bon voyage':' at this time,

rezoning; however, - he - did concur with, they City - Attorney ° s , opinion on - the
matter`a.nd therefore did not believe such action should be necessary.
Mayor Schoeningh explained to Mr. .Ammons that' he believed the Counc=il
could merely go along the City Attorney's' opinion re.ga..rdiz g the alleged
violation this tine,, as it would ,be very impractical "for the City to -take a
case to court after having been by' the City Attorney that } there' was not
sufficient matter for a .court action that could be sustained.
Mr. Cory, Director of the Petaluma Munscipa:l Band,. addressed the -
Council expressing his :appreciation of the uniforms which the City had furnisfied
