Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order
by Mayor Parent.
ROLL 'CALL:
Present: Councilmen Crinella,, Gustafson King, Matzen, McCausland,

INVOCATION;:
In, the 'absence of Reverend .Godfrey- Hartz_el,, Episcopal Church, an
invocation which had been prepared by him was read by Mayor Parent.

It was proposed'- the letter that a committee, consisting of representa'=
tives - of`bi oth the City Council and .Board of Education be established to consider
problems' requiring cooperation of-.toth groups. '

to the Committee w.athin the next few days.
Traffic: Conirbl
Traffic Committee report dated, May ,20,, 1957, „submitting* a plan of
safety devices for school crossings to be 'used in conjunction with a Junior
Safety Patrol, read and filed. This report had been submitted�.at a previous
meetin
Discus followed relative to'-whether o not, the stop, - si gns installed
, by'the Council::near school intersections, etc ,should be removed,
Police.Chief Del,Maest- ro'an'swered various questions of the Council,,
stating that he believed ahe top =signs entering town on various treets should;
:be rernWed; with the exception of `the sign on East W- ashmgton St. Mr.
Del Maestro felt that" this sign �wa`s. serving a purpose. .

Traffic; Control - Cont.
To a question by Councilman Crinella, Chef',De Maestro :answered
that "radar control'of traffic. brought very good results.
It. was the final dcision of the Council to have the stop,-signs ente "ring
and leaving town on various streets removed'. with the-'exception Hof ithe one on

somethingg will 'be done 'relative to traffic control dt school intersections before'
school , opens this Fall; and, that the Police Dept will `be' alert for any speeders

Re Closing of Bassett Street
Mr Wallace Adams addressed the . Council stating that as he recalled,.

whether :or not 'Bassett St. - was closed; As a property owner in this area,
Mr,.. Adams stated that ho"Was very much opposed the. closing of Bassett St..
