Report on re Industry
Councilman Mb auislarnd reported on °a:n industrial meeting which he

that the meeting' had` been sponsored by - the American Institute of. Planners,
thte Calif, Real Estate Association, Calif., State - Federation of Labor:., the
County S' ervisors` °''Asso.ciation of Calif. , San Francisco Bay ,Council
of .th'e of Calif. Cities :arid the San Mai e' o County Development Association,
Some of the facts brought out at the meeting were noted by Councilman
McCausland as follows
L The .growth -of population in the State of "Calif. is twice that of the .
national ayer:age the'ndustrial growth. of Calif. is 6 tunes that
of 'the:.national averaged -
w 20 The trend of industry is changing in that they'are now beginning
to seek virgin territory for industrial. locations.
I . Industry has recently taken it upon itself to investigate such
matters as the smoke' problem:, etc,
4o Some of the factors that industry takes. into consideration when

In summarizing the report, Councilman McCausland remarked that he

CONSIDERATION OF UNFINISHED BUSINESS,:
Storage of Civil. Defense- Supplies
Referring to a `report which had" ": Been. sulamitted to the Council by City
Manager Ed Frank Council.m,an King suggested that the Council authorize the
expenditure of �12Q 00 to pay for rental charges for storing Civil Defense
supplies. for one year as recommended 'in 'the City 1VIanager�s report
Mayor Parent info imed the', Council that he had checked with
Mr. F`usa,rb aild had been told that there was no space for storage of "taese
supplies at the Fair'Gro,undsa
It was the unanimous d decision of the Council to act in accordanc

Council. provide for the purchase of a new radio antenna for the - base rad

as the poor condition of :the' old antenna had seriously affected communications
with neighboring cities - -
'The City Attorney was .directed - to prepare a resolution :for the next -

taxi -cab -rates in the City They stated that 'they had 'given the present rates •-

were of no value to`them under the p;re;sent rates.
