He requested ttat the City Attorney check to determine if this could be done, in view of the fact that this street was within the parking meter distrf:cta The City Attorney was directed to look -into the matter and .notify the . 1VIerchants` Committee of the Chamber of Commerce of his decision. City Attorney Ed Robert reported that he had' contacted the .law firm of Orrick.. Dahlquist, Herrington ;and iSutcliffe relative to' whether it would be possible for the City to use a portion of the auditorium building fund' money to c,on5tru,,t a recreation building °without the necessity of going to an election. He had riot "yet received ,an answer from the lava firm on this matter, but was advised. that the Council c_ ould,, at this time, pass a resolution of intention to use .a-..port :on of the 1945 Auditorium Bond Monies if ,said monies were legally avilableY" and directing the- City'Attorney to mvestiga.te the legality of using said monies. Mayor Parent stated that a citizens committee ' ommittee would be appointed-_,as soon as possible to report on the recreation buiidirig for= Kenilworth Parke City Attorney Ed Robert requested that the Council_ give him the - vh ty ew :all to ave the legislaf on b O his offiDe hlquist, Herr Sutcliffe ington`& au re y for 'the Council's action which would place this matter on the ballot. He felt that this sl 6uld "be done; to ascertain that any legislation prepared by him would'_not 'jeopardize or restrict. the Council in any way in any futui e use of these funds ✓ The Council was in .agreement that this would ' be advisable in the case' of putting- the matter of the recreation building .on the ballot. It was pointed out by the e Clerk that the' ordinance' on this s.ub jest would.ha e to be "introduced by March_ 1Q, in order to - place the matter on ' June ballot. The City Attorney w.as directed to prepare the necessary legislation for this matter for the _adJourned meeting next Monday night° City Engineer Russell Ingram Was, directed to` pre pare plans,,' specifications an elevations for the proposed recreation building and submit them to the Council-,at: "the next: adjourned meeting, ° a. i 1 .(4) 359 March 3,., 1958 10:20 p. m., - A recess was declared at this time to allow time for the : Committee to study the bid which had been submitted on three new autos. 10:35 po m. The meeting was called back to order. by Councilman King,, Vice President of the Council.. Shortly thereafter, Mayor Parent returned to the meeting. Following discussion on the subject, the City Attorney was directed to prepare a. resolution ,for the next adjourned rneeting' in accordance with the rec- ommendaton of the Corrimitteeo ADJOURNMENT° There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned until Monday, March ' 10, 1958, 7:30 p. m.
