Salary Ord.: Discussion = conto Councilman Gustafson' requested that a salary ordinance, as requested by the Employees' Association, be presented at the next regular meeting. Considerable discussion followed as to the amount of increase or decrease; in the cost l.ving. necessary to warrant a salary increase or decrease; the exact 12 month period of indexes to be considered; etc. T. ques "tions ,by the Council, Mrs. Gibson, speaking on behalf of the Executive .Board' Member_ s, stated that she believed the resolution proposed : by Councilman Crinella would be fair to both the City and the employees, Providing it was put into effect after adjustment to the present 'salaries had been made. In- conclusion,. the City Manager was directed to submit to the Council, for the next regular meeting-, the additional - information requested by Council- man Ling. The City Att orney was directed to prepare a- resolution for the next' reguular meeting, based on the rough draft presented by Councilman Crinella, The resolution lution was to designate March 31, as the starting and ending dates of the period for the cost of living indexes to be considered under this plan. It was also agreed by the Council that the resolution should stipulate that a cost of living increase would be, granted: to the nearest. whole percent the cost of living decrease would6ave to exceed 1% before salaries would be decrea Mrs. Gibson _extended an invitation to the Council and City'Manager t ' � -tend a meeting of the Employees' Association on the first W'edne'sday in M iy, at which time a representative of the State -Retiroment System: will. speak on the subject of retirement benefits, etc. ; .aii&answer questions re' ative. to the system, Street Repairs -Following discussion as to the condition of certain unimproved streets in the City the City Engineer was directed'to have Weller, . City Manager was directed to obtain information as to how other cities dealt with this problem. On behalf of the entire Council, Mayor Parent complemented the , property owners along and Howard Streets, and the various City Offie` als,� whose cooperation had made the reconstruction of these streets possible.
