The following Committee was appointed by Mayor Parent to study the
bids and 4present its recommendation to the Council;
Councilmen Crinella and Matzen; City;.,Manager & ' City Engineer.
A. recess was called at this time - approximately 8 :00 p. m.

Councilmen Crinella reported the Committee's recommendation that
the. lbw of Reich46ld & Jurkovich be accepted to include_ items IA, .2A, 3A,
4, 5; 7 and 8,, and that .items 6 land' 6A (Liberty`strb be eliminated from
thi s. particular project and put into the..coming year's budget under capital
outhy projects°
Some members of the ,Council expressed opinions that no street should
`..be ell- minated the project and that a 28' overlay should be used on all
streets for which alterna'te'bid's had been submitted,
After discussing the. 'subject, the following polls were taken to determine

Report: re Motor Vehicle Department' °s Location in Petaluma
Councilman.. Van, Bobber reported 'that 4` site`s had been proposed for
loraaops` for :the subject building,, ° but apparently none of them have met with
the .Motor. Vehicle Departme`nt's immediate -approyal. He stated that when
..,Mr',':'Vliller' arrived °here to tour the town,. it.was hoped that a proper site
would bo" located.,
Mayor - - Parent. noted that Councilman.Van. Bobber 'was Chairman of a
cbmmittee which, had been.appointed to work on this matter.

Report` of Citizens°' Committee dated "May 1,6, 195.8, signed by Committee

improvement Bonds of 19.45 be used in ai -iyway possible o assist- in'locat ng a
foug, year state college in the Petaluma .area, , read, and filed.
The City Clerk was directed to write a letter , of appreciation to - the
Committee, thanking them f the time and.effoft spent on this project.

MAyor Parent announced that first budget session would take place
at the adjourned. Counci1 -_0 t ng to- be held, next Monday night.
City Manager Ed' `Frank read the budget nies.sage and requested that
the, Council study budget .section 136. (river and harbor) first this year., so
he,i , hit act- in : accordance with the Council's wishes in regard to a ,small
. boat harbor for the City. He explained that the City would not be eligible
foraanyw,fund�s from the Smaa.l Boats and Harbors Commission .until. they are
in .possession or control of the property to be used for'de'velopm.ent of a
smalI, boat harbor.
'Councilman King ;stated that although he was not against the construction
of a, mall boat: harbor, he would be interested to know from where the funds
forsuch :a project w.oul.d' come before making plans for-the purchase of,Land etc.
F 'rank 'stated' that'dt was his understanding that eventually there
will. b "e construction funds,, available.
Councilmen Van..Bebber. and Crinella felt that this project should be
given considerable study as it would be qu te.an; asset to the City.

CONSIDERATION. OF UNFINISHED_ BUSINESSs
To a question by Councilman Crinella regarding the :river- bank 'north
of the Washington.Streot Bridge;, C.ityEiigineer Russell Ingram stated that.
the City Attorney had notified the propEarty - owner that repair of the ]aa was.
his, responsibifi ty. Mr. Ingram .stated that .he believed. this problem might
tie into the.. Flood :C'ont•ro1 District.
Councilman Crnella asked if, the property owner could be. forced to
do this work under - the ' -1 911 Improvem nt. Act'
The City, Engineer was:.directed to look into this matter:
Councilman Van Bebber requested to know what the ,City intended to-
.do with .the balance of the $750.00 which Mr. Harry Clow had .deposited with.
the City to cover the fee on 1;5 outside sewer connections in Highland Heights:
for a eriod of one year. Inasmuch as M-r. Clow had not annexed this
property to the. City as ,stipulated- in the ,agreement between him and the City,
Councilman Van - Bobber felt that. the money should not be refunded to M ,,. w.
Mr.. Frank informed. Councilman, Van :Bebber that letters had been
sent to the 4 property owners ;affected by this °matter, notifying them of the
annual outside sewer .connection fee which.will be due. and payable by them
,as of July 1, 1958; He stated that a letter had been received from the .League .
of California. Cities °' . Counse , relati:ve to'proper disposition of - the money
-involved in this matter. '
The City Manager was directed to a, full report to the Co -i "il
on this,; including copies of the 2 -above 'mentioned letters,, the agreement:
between Mr: Clow and the City, and all reports connec'ted'with the matter
before the next regular Council meeting:.,;
To a question by Councilman Matzen regarding the City °s' mosquito
abatement program Mr. Frank � answered that various drains a'nd creeks
are being oiled, and that the mosquito'abatement machin'e.is in operation
every morning
