Adjourned meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma: called to order
by , Parent.

Present: Councilmen Gustafson, King, McCausland, Van Bebber .and

Absent: Councilmen Crinella and Matzen.

eport re Site for Motor Vehicle Bldg. i`n..,Petaluma
Gouncilrfidh Van Bebber reported having conferred with Mr. Miller re
sui.tabto sites in Petaluma that of, the sites mVestigate thus far none were
satisfactory to Mr. Miller 'except the one on 6th and "G`' Streets. A tour was
made of. the properties around` the Civic Center and Western Avenue and some-
thing, be worked out ip that• general location
Mr, Miller' expressed the Wish to
be granted permission to use the
bf the City Hall on Thursdays and Fridays" of Week.' until such
time as their building can be ,completed.

City maps °Which are two or three year's behind; 'that this summer will be
. pretty well spent on land use program and commencement of public works
const- ructions.
Councilman King-Ox pressed the opinion that steps should be taken
immediately to replace "the City Engineer, whose -resignation takes effect
June 22, - 1958, Mr. Frank reported that he had a. number of
cities- and the' League of California = Cities - and. had'prepared' an ad for the papers.
Councilrnan.King further stated that he as a Councilman, Wished to personally
nrervLeyV the applicant.

110 Personal Services increased by $1422. to. provide for the salary
of the director for 12 months instead °.of 10.
236 Travel. Ex ense :' Item 4. American Water Works. Association
in the amount of $1001 Was deleted.
-450 Special Services Civil Engineer Consultant in the amount of
$600. was deleted
46 Publications & Dues Membersh-i in the American "Water Works
Association m the amount "of: $ 20 was deleted. All other' expendi-
ture items were approved.
`Budget "Section 131 e (Inspection)
Expenditure `items were approved in the' amounts recommended.
The •question' of car altowances was discussed, Councilman King
stating •that "he wished detailed reports on inspections made ,arid mileage
eoered and that lie believed the' allowances hould s be on a per mile
."basis rather than a flat sum,. Councilman Van Bebber' expressed the
opinion that the flat sum Was the better deal for the City.
No decision was made as to which method should be followed in
the coming year;. (1�
