Councilman King entered the meeting at this time. Councilman Crinella asked if it would be necessary to replace a portion ni.. r &la�Iively new sewer .line between Hinman..Street' and Laurel Avenue. - Mr; Si:ratford explained that . so far as the Engineering could tell at 1t ,w uld `not be necessary to replace the entire 'line from Post Street to Laurel tit ?en te. He- stated' that there was a block from - Fair `Street to Spring St t al but, 300' to .400.', where it would probably be possible - to keep r xi 'uhg line, Mr; - Stratford''went on to say that the relatively new line between - Einmap q u,d­ Laurel might necesarily have to be - replaced; however, - Mr. Ingram had felt that portion of sewer sould taken of in order to provide a better,. gewer e� way along,' as there'wasn "t'n uch .grade to the line. To a question, by Councilman - King, Mr. Str.'afford sta ed that it would po 5zlile to lower a manhole 'at ° Hinman Street so that you could ',cut the pipe in diet 4,r from there on. - The Assistant City Engineer - explained - that�Mr. - Ingram rriQ!''i;Y was of - the opinion that' it would 'be a better engineering design to lower .the pe�7rtion; of the line up above Hinman Street, since ,the piece below was going to be. ao «-e -edm Councilman Tang felt that, inasmuch as this line - had given no trouble that - �he knew of to date, it should not be necessary to replace 'it. City Manager Ed Frank stated that there had ,been no maintenance prob: erns on the portion of sewe.r.'line between Hinman and Laurel to his knowledge. .(t was the general feeling of - the Council that. the 'new sewer line from Hiffrnan to .Laurel should not be replaced unless there Was _no other alternative. Thematter Was left to the End neer-of Work for reconsideration. llrscussion was field regarding the- fund to be charged for this additional work.,;.
