City Hall - Petaluma, Calif. of the City of Petaluma called- Present: Councilmen Adams, Bigelow, Brown, Gustafson, King, Norwood, and Mayor Schoeningh. Absent: None. I INVOCATION: In 'the absence of Reverend Skultety, Assembly of God Church, the invocation was given by Mayor. Schoen-ingh. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes from the meeting of August 8, 1955, were approved as recorded. Approval of the minutes of August 9,..1955, was postponed until the meeting of August 19 pending a correction to be made by the Clerk. Councilman King requested that the minute's more specifically state ally the resolution regarding purchase of an aerial ladder - track had been. withdrawn and why the City Attorney had been directed to draw up 'new legislation 'thereon, PETITIONS & COMMUNICATIONS: Copy of letter dated August 5, 1955, addressed to Mayor ,Schoenin,a,h and signed by H. C., Eales of the Poultry Producers, re grading and paving Copeland Street between Vlashington and Madison Street, read and filed. Mayor Schoeningh announced that the City Manager and City ajiF-ineer were not as yet prepared to give a:report on this mca,.Eter; there-Lore, until the Council had received fur ther informa- t.ion on the subject, he,thoulo ;ht it would not be advisable for t ra hc:, to meet with the 'Board of Directors"'Of the Poultry Producers. The Mayor explained that he had a , ddressed'a letter to Mr. Eales along this line.° It was determined,,that the report could be submitted in approximately one W66k.' The City Manager was directed to inform the Council when the report is prepared so that a meeting with the Poultry Producers' Board of Directors could be scheduled. I I CONSIDERATION OF UNFE4ISHED BUSTNESS : Cont Re Acceptance of New Po"Lice Station-cont, Councllmen Gustafson and Adams reniarIced �ha`, they were not in favor of accepting the completion of the Police Station until such' time as the items which had been called to their attention had been completed. The City Manager. 1,ATas,then directed to contact Reynolds Gonstruotion and J. Clarence Felcia'.-rio, Architect, to ensure that the work be done, and the matter was laid on the table until the items in qi.),estion had been.completed to the satisfaction of the City Manager, City Engineer and Chief of Police. Re Aerial Ladder Truck __-TH-e consent _7_the Coi-incil, Mayor Schoeningh referred this matter back to the Committee For further-study and their clarification and recornendation to the Council as to the course of action to be taken. For the information of the Council, Mayor Schoeningh remarked - that any committee meeting was always open to all Council- men, regardless of whether or not *'L were a member of the committee. Following a brief discussion concerning wiring, etc; the matter was tabled, pending confirmation of the approval of the American Legion on the lease. Re 'Nate.- Tank - Wickersham Park , ff_OUT7cI7`man Gustafson, on behalf of the Recreation Commission, requested that the Council give consideration to the installation of a 5000 gal. water tank in 'V7IJck_-,rs'IIam Park. The City Engineer was dire6ted to inquire as to the cost of .9 a second-hand tank of this size and report back to the Council. George Dickerson, Chairman of the Planning Coinmission, addressed the Council at this time, remarking on the rapid growth of the City of Petaluma * and the necessity of a wise planning program, and stating that he hoped funds would be appropriated for this purpose in next year's budget. Director of Public Works Don Baird requested the Council's opinion as to whether the survey checks on the Hospital property and the balance of the Vloodi property should be made during the week or on Saturdays. He stated that, in the past, this work had generally been performed on Saturdays to expedite the annexations. The Council av-reed that it would be satisfactory for the Engineering Dept. to continue doing this job on Saturdays.
