ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Adams, Bigelow Brown, Gustafson, King, Norwood and Mayor Schoeningh. Absent: None. INVOCATION Invocation was given by Reverend Richard Fitch, Methodist Church. APPROVAL OF MINUTE;S Minutes of the meeting of December 19, 1955, were approved as recorded. PET & COMMUNICATIONS Notice dated Dec..,16,. 1955, received from North Bay Division League of California Cities, stating that a meeting will be held at Sonoma on Saturday, January 21, 1956, 6:30 P. M., at. Pau 1 s Resort, read and filed. Letter from, Petaluma t Board, of Education io 'the'' , 19, 1955, thanking the Cit y Council for offerin 1 Chambers for their meetings, read and filed. Letter from Board of Freeholders dated Dec. 20, 1955, requesting budget of $1, 010. 00, read and filed; whereupon; Res. #1605 N. C. S. introduced by Councilman Brown, seconded` by Councilman King; entitled, "RESOLUTION APPROVING. B. VOGET FOR BOARD OF FREEHOLDERS. " was adopted by 7 affirmative votes: Notice of apportionment of Motor Vehicle Fees for the period June 1, 1955` Nov. 30, 1955; Petaluma's share $6, based on population of 12, 004, submitted and filed. Letter dated Dec. 27, 1955 from Albert M. Potter and Louise Potter, 840 Keokuk Street, asking that: their names be withdrawn from the recent petition in favor of a sewage district in Cherry Valley, -read and filed. With the consent of the Council, Mayor Schoeningh referred this letter to the Committee working on this pr'oj'ect, `togemer with the City Attorney and City Engineer. CONSIDERATION OF UNFINISHED .BUSINESS: Brd. of Education Request for Closing, of Bassett Street Mayor Schoeningh announced that the Joiht`Committee of the Council, Board of Education & Planning Commission, apponted,to study this and other important matters, had not as yet met, but plans were under way for holding a in the near future. At the suggestion of Councilman King the Council agreed that a public he ring should be held before the meeting took place. After discussion on the subject of how to publicize the public hearing-, etc; the matter was referred to the City Attorney for proper procedure. Purchase of Rotavator Councilman King" questioned the necessity of this resolution. Mr. Frank stated that the City Attorney suggested that the resolution would be in order; whereupon, Res. #1608 N. Ce Se introduced by Councilman Adams, seconded by Councilman Norwood, entitled, "RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A SECOND- HAND GEM ROTAVA.TOR, SERIAL NO. 35'604, FROM THE HOLM TRACTOR & EQUIPMENT COMPANY FOR THE TOTAL SUM OF ONE HUNDRED SIXTY -SIX AND 40/100 DOLLARS. " was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Adams, Bigelow, Brown, Gustafson, Norwood and . Mayor Schoeningh: Noes: Councilman King. Mayor Schoeningh welcomed the people in the audience, stating that he was very happy to see so many visitors. Mr. Otto Berger, member of the Board of Freeholders, thanked the Council for voting as they had on the Freeholders' budget. Councilman Bigelow requested to know why as assistant Fire Chief had not been appointed before the 1st of the year. City Manager Ed Frank explained that Fire Chief Eaglin, who had been appointed to office on Jan; 1, 1956, was at this time working on the matter with him.
