Adjourned meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order
by Mayor Schoeningh.
ROLL .CALL::
Present: Councilmen_ Adams, Bigelow Brown, Gustafson, King, Norwood,
and Mayor Schoeningh.
Absent: None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes from the meeting of April 16 1956, were approved as recorded.
PETITIONS' & COMMUNICATIONS:
Letter _dated March 30,. 1956, received from State Compensation Ins.
Fund enclosing dividend check for $2, 569. 39, representing 45. 57 of annual
prerniun on workmen's compensation, read and filed.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS:
City Manager
Leghorn $aseball Assoc. Request for Soft Drink Concession. - . McNear Park
City - Manager' Ed` Frank referred to a resolution dated April 5, 1948,
granting the above requested concession to the Optimist Club, "until the con-
cession granted hereunder (to the Optimist Club) shall have been revoked or
suspend'ed"by the City Council.
It was Mr. Frank's understanding that the Optimist Club does. not wish to
relinquish the concession, but are willing to lease it to the Leghorn Baseball
Association .for the balance of this year for $1.00.
After some discussion, the majority of the Council expressed themselves
as being in favor of. repealing the original resolution . and granting the concession
to the Leghorn Baseball Association,for a period of'one year, thereby setting
the policy of granting the concession on an annual basis in the future.
The City Attorney was directed to prepare the necessary legislation, in
accordance with the wishes of the Council,_ for the next meeting.
Council Committee
Parking Meter .Bids - Committee Report
Councilman Norwood,. Chairman of the subject Committee, reported that
the Committee had met last Thursday. At that time they had requested the City
Engineer to secure information as to maintenance and service of the various
types of meters and reactions of the public to manual and automatic meters.
After receiving the City Engineer's report on this matter,_ Councilman Norwood
stated. the Committee would then-submit their recommendations.
ht was also decided that a policy should be set,, upon receiving Mr. Ingram's
report,_ as to the consistent use of either manual or automatic meters.

City Attorney Ed Robert "explained the request of the State Lands Commis-
sion that an amended lease be executed. by the Mayor and City Clerk, in order to
correct.a slight error in description on the original lease of certain tide lands in
Petaluma Creek. No action of the City Council was deemed necessary.

Mr. Ingram stated that he was planning on keeping Earl Dugan under the
Corporation Shop Budget ;Section and making - him head mochanic for all of. the
Public Works & Park -Dept. vehicles, so that the City will not run into large
expenditures -as was :experienced last year,

the City street sweeper Mt. , Ingram explained that` this was largely due to the
condition of our ,street, but that the total operating costs for operation of the
sweeper compared. very favorably with tho, s p other citi es throughout the

might obtain on this subject to, th& Council for consideration.
