PET ITIONS & COMMUNICATIONS*-
Highland Heights Subdivision Unit #1
Letter from Mr. Harry B. Clow dated May 24, 1956, advising the
Cotuicil that it is his intention to annex the subject subdivision to
the City-as rapidly as possible, read and filed; resolution of the
City Council accepting maintenance bond from Mr. Clow re maintenance
of the sewers to be installed in Highland Heights Subdivision for a
period of 2 years was read, and the following discussion took place:
Director of Public Works Russell Ingram briefly related what had
taken place to date regarding the annexation of Highland Heights Sub -
ca , _' ; stating that the subdivision grill be bef ore the Boundary
Coremis:s on sometime in June, and that the annexation would be handled
throh an election. To questions asked by the Council, Mr. Ingram
explained that streets, lots, etc., would be in accordance with City
specifications in this subdivision.
Councilman Gustafson was not in favor of passing the resolution
regavrding the sewer maintenance bond until after the subdivision had
been before the Boundary Commission.
Because of the fact that Mr. Clow's letter stated that the sub-
division to be before the County Boundary Commission sometime in
June, 1956, and the resolution accepting the sewer maintenance bond
stated that the subdivision is now before the Boundary Commission,
the resolution before the Council for adoption was then - initialed by

Councilman Brown stated that.Mr. Jim Rose.is planning on con°
structing a new building on the corner of 2nd &'"C" Streets. He
explained that the curbs and gutters are in poor Condit =ion because
of heavy trucks, parking there, and that Mr. Rose is planning on
putting in a new sidewalk when the new building is completed and is
willing to replace the curbs and gutters.fronting his property on
2nd Street, but he would like to have some assurance from the City
that, in case the same conditions occur again, the City will assume..
the responsibility of rebuilding the curbs at such time as it.becomes
necessary.to do so. Councilman Brown remarked that he felt the City
should, at the time these curbs and.gutters are replaced, rebuild
the Street about 5f or 61 out from the curb as a maintenance job.
