Regular charter meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma
called to order by Mayor Woodson.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilmen Brown, Deiss, Myers, Penry, and Mayor Woodson.
Absent. Councilmen King,= and Seidell.
N'EW BUSINESS :
The Clerk reported that the new elected City Officers had all
subscribed to their oaths of office.
AD.JOURNMEN T:
There being no further business to come before the meeting, the
meeting was adjourned to 7:30 P.M. July 2nd, 1945.

Regular adjourned meeting of the Council of the City of
Petaluuma, called to order by Mayor Woodson.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilmen Brown, Deiss, Myers, Penry, Seidell, and
Mayor Woodson.
Absent: Councilman King.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
The monthly reports of the Wharfinger, Police Judge, Chief'of
Police, Poundmaster and Rodent Exterminator were read and filed.
The annual reports of the Rodent Exterminator and the Poundmaster
were read and filed.
The annual report of receipts and calls on the.operation of the
City Ambulance was read and filed.
REPORTS OF-STANDING COMT11- T TEES:
The Finance Committee submitted its report, whereupon
Resolution #5733 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by Councilman Brown,, directing
the'Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 1 to 4 inclusive) against the various
City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by�the Finance Comm-
ittee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
PETI TIONS A COMMUNICATIONS:

Communication from the Federal Works Agency, Bureau of Community
Facilities, announcing that the application of the City of Petaluma for
continuance of Project Calif. 4 -rA -327, Recreation Facilities has been
app -oved for extension through Sept. 30, 1945, read and filed.
Communication from Orrick Dahlquist, Neff. Brown & Herrington
on the question of whether or not the City should sell the bonds authorized
at the election immediately and take advantage of the low interest rates
now prevailing, read and filed.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES:
Ordinance No. 598 C.S. introduced by Councilman Myers, seconded by
Councilman Brown, entitled, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PE TALUMA

appointing Councilman Leland H. Myers, Vice President of the City
Council of the City of Petaluma for the term expiring July 1, 1947
adopted by 7 affirmative votes,
Transfer of funds:
Resolution .,T5736 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by Councilman Brown,
directing the Auditor and Treasurer to transfer the sum of $37.21
remaining in the Music Fund as of July 1, 1945, to the General
Fund of the City of Petaluma, in compliance with Sec. 3 of Charter
Amendment #19 of the Charter, adopted by 7 affirmative,votes,
Appointment of City Officers:
Resolution #5737 !C.S.
introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Seidell,
re- appointing certain officers of the City of Petaluma as named
in said resolution, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Resolution introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by
Councilman Myers, authorizing and permitting the 4th District
Agricultural Association to sub -lease the pavilion at Kenilworth
Park to Morrison Knudsen Co. Inc, and Ben C. Gerwick, Inc, at a
rental of $200. per was-questioned by Councilman John King
and upon the consent of Councilmen Penry and Myers was'withdrawn
before roll call thereon.
The question-of whether this property should be leased.by
the 4th Dist. Agricultural Association or the City of Petaluma
was discussed and referred to the Finance Committee for study
and conference with the members of the 4th Dist. Fair.
Councilman Seidell reported that the Royal Tallow & Soap
Co. had written him a letter calling attention to the dumping of
dead livestock at the City Dumps in violation of the City Ordinance
and that this was providing food for rats. He further reported
that Rodent Exterminator Andrew Stein had suggested that a deputy
be employed at the dumps to control the dumping. The matter was
discussed and referred to the Sanitation Committee for further
investigation and recommendation.
Mayor Woodson stated that Mr. Downing of the Duncan Meters
Corp. will be present at the next meeting of the City Council
on July 16th at which time the matter of installing parking meters
in Petaluma will be further discussed.
