ROLL __CALL, : Present: Councilmen Brown, Deiss, King, Myers, Penry, Seidell, and Mayor Woo'd READING OF THE JOUFN AL: Th minutes of e last regular meeting of September 4, 1945, were read and"approved as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFI The monthly report of the Librarian was read and filed, REPORTS - OF STANDING COMMITTEES: l 'T 7 nance Commit su m1t ted its report, whereupon Resolution #5755 C.S. introduced by Councilman King seconded by 1Councilman Brown, directing the Auditor to draw, warrants Nos. 549 to 667 inclusive) against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. PETITIONS AN.D : .COMMUNICATIONS : C from rs.�I'homas J. Caulfield, expressing her appreciation for the summer recreation program, read and placed -on file. Communication from the Division of Highways, District IV., attach- ing first supplemental Memorandum of Agreement to provide for the re- surfacing of State Highway Route #1 as far as funds available will go read and filed,. whereupon Resolution #5756 C.S. introduced by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Seidell, approving said Agreement for the expenditure of the 1/4 cent gas tax allocated for S tate Highways, and directing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign the same on behalf of the City, adopted by the following vote: AYES:. Councilmen Brown, Deiss, Penry, and Mayor Woodson. NOES: Councilmen King, Myers, and Seidell. NEW 'BUSINISS: P urch ase of pumps and hose for Fire Dept: The question of purchasing certain equipment loaned to the City `by the Federal Government during the War for civilian defenseequipment, was discussed, Councilman King reporting that the Fire Department wishes to retain a pumping unit with accessories, which can be purchased for around $500. It was the consensus of opinion that this equipment be' purchased for the Fire Department, . and the matter was left in the-hinds of Councilman King-and Civilian Defense Property Custodian Albert Overton.: "The Clerk was directed to write a letter of appreciation to the American Legion Hall Association and the Elks Lodge for the courtesy extended to the City on September 8th when both halls were used for the Conference of the League of California Cities. Councilman King extended an invitation to the members of the City Council to meet ,jointly with the Directors of the Petaluma Chamber of commerce on next Monday evening in the Council Chambers. Said invitation was accepted. The matter of redeeming certain delinquent property on Edith Street, recently purchased by Frank Burns, was referred to the City Attorney for report to the City Council as to necessary proceedure and expense involved in selling this property. A discussion was had of the petition recently filed by J. L. Boitano in which he asked the :Council to take such proceedings as may be required for the abandonment '�of any portion of certain property which may lie within the limits of Bridge Streets as shown on the County Records, but outside of the limits of Bridge Street as the same now actually exists. City Engineer Gonzalez submitted a sketch of the property involved and the matter was referred to the Street Committee and City Attorney for inves tigation. 14 Councilman Myers reported ,that his committee had decided to move the broken electrolier on Third St. to 718 - 3rd-St. .and that the. electrician, was waiting for .materials before the same could be completed. The suggestion that a new electrolier be erected rather than having the old repaired was discussed and referred to 'Councilman Myers for investigation.
