ROLL.CALL: Present: Councilmen Brown, Deiss, King, Myers, Penry, Seidell,. and Mayor° Woodson. READING OF THE JOURNAL: The minutes of t e last regular meeting of Sept. _17, 1945, were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFICERS: e monEniy reports . of the Auditor, Police Judge, Wharfinger, Rodent Exterminator, Poundmaster, Chief of Police, and Treasurer, were re ad ­an - d° filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES: e Finance. omm ttee su mitted its reports, whereupon Resolution #5757 C.S. introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by .(Councilman Brown,, direct - ing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 669 to 792 inclusive) against the various City Funds ih payment of claims allowed and approved,by the" Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Application of West Coast Cirbus Shows to exhibit in Petaluma October 9 to 12., inclusive read and filed,* and Resolution #5758 C. S. introduced by Councilman. Penry, seconded by (Councilman Myers, grgriting said permit upon payment by the applicant of the sum of $$250.00 as regu red , by Ordinance N6."460 C.S., adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Letter and report of-the Recreation Committee on the activities of the_ summer recreation program and requesting that the City Council set aside an amount of $500. to be used for the sane purpose next year .read and filed. NEW BUSINESS: Redemption of property Edith & Madison Sts.: The application of Mr. Frank,Burns to redeem property recently 'acquired by him on Edith - and Madison Streets,' which was sold to the !City many years ago for non-payment of city taxes and street assessments, was. discussed and it was agreed that legal proceedure be started ":under the tax laws of the City to sell said property at public sale for the sum of at least $1649.64 pluss $$100. advertising costs. The'City -'attorney was requested to communicat4 this decision of the City Council to Mr.'Frank Burns. '"'"'Councilman Seldell reported that the present Police Radio Operator would soon be leaving Petaluma and that it would be necessary to replace him.,that Mr.,L. 0. Showalter has agreed to accept the position for the sum of; $50. per Month. This arrangement was approved by the :City Council . City Attorney Brooks that he expects to confer with-the bonding .attorneys in the very near future with regard to the form ­of 1pUgislation to be prepared to ratify the recent bond issue. Kimberly, McNear Avenue is delinquent, read and filed and referred to the City Attorney. Re- New furnace for Library .requested: Members of the Board" of. Library Trustees appeared before the Council and presented a letter requesting the.City'Council to auth- orze the installation of a new furnace for heating the, Library.. , Plans - said installation were also submitted,. They stated that the estimated cost of said improvement is approximately $1200, and that. funds al- located to the . Library -Fund will not. permit the. payment of this installati -on out of the Library Fund and asked that`the City meet this expense out of special revenue funds. The matter was referred to the City Attorney and the Finance Committee fora inve'sti and report at the next meeting. Communication from J., L. Boitano requesting that the City provide his property on Bridge- Street with a proper sewer outlet, read and filed and referred to the City Engineer -and Street Super - intendent for investigation Re --Contemplated sale by County of tax deed ppty on Plt:View Communication from City Attorney Karl Brooks regarding the sale by the, County of. Sonoma of 'tax de4de'd property assessed to H: C. Nielsen 'and Jergen Nissen and setting forth the procee.dur'e necessary by the City to preserve-the Cityl s lien• for taxes and assessments against this property amounting to approximately $1632.63, - read, and filed, and , considered by 'the Council, whereupon Resolution #5762 1C.S. introduced by Councilman Seidell., seconded by Councilman Penry, objecting to the sale' of said tax deeded property by the 'Tax Col ector of Sonoma County,, and directing the mailing of certified copies of this resolution to the County Tax Collector and to the Board of Supervisors of Sonoma County, adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees...- Re - Parking.meters: All of the members of the City Council not .being present., 'the matter of a decision regarding the installation of parking, meters on a trial basis was deferred; Re - sale of tax deeded property on Edith Street: Resolution #5761, C.S. - introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by Councilman Penry, entitled, I t RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT THE VALUE OF CERTAIN PROPERTY 17 15 NOT GREAT ENOUGH THAT IT CAN BE SOLD FOR AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO THE TAXIES LEVIED UPON SAID PROPERTY AND INTEREST, COSTS,,, PENALTIES, AND AUTHORIZING SALE FOR NOT LESS THAN $1650. �� adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees.
