Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma
called to order by Mayor Woodson,

present: Councilmen Brown, Deiss, King, Myers, Penry, Seidell,
and Mayor Woodson.
READING OF THE ,JOURNAL:
The minu es of the last regular meeting of October 15, 1945
were read and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF- OFFICERS: _
uie,monthly reports of Rodent Exterminator,
Wharfinger, Chief of Police, Treasurer, Auditor, and Police Judge,
were read and filed.
The annual report of the Library Trustees was read and
filed:
.The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavit of Publication
of Ordinance No. 601 C.S.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:

Resolution #5762 C.;S.
introduced by Councilman King, seconded by Councilman Seidell,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 919 to 1084 inclusive)
against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and
approved .by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
PETITION AND COMMUNICATIONS:
Re o summer recreation program:
Communication from Henrietta Feinstein, Corresponding Secy.
of the Philip Sweed P.T.A., expressing appreciation for the•Summer
Recreation Program at the Washington Grammar School and hoping that.
the City will approve another summer program next year, read and
filed.
Communication from E. Bernice Peoples, Corresponding Secy.,
of the Washin ton Grammar P.T.A. stating that said P.T.A. has voted
to set aside ,9$100. to be used next summer if there is another
summer recreation program and stating that the children thoroughly'
enjoyed and profited by the program carried out this past summer,
read and filed.
Letter signed by "A Petaluma Taxpayer "'calling attention
to the unsightly broken electrolier on Third Street below I Street,
read and filed and the matter left in the hands of Councilman Myers,
Chairman of the'Lighting Committee, who reported that he had made
grrangements to have the electrolier moved about six feet from its
present location where there will be less danger of its being broken.
Request from the Redwood Feed Service for permission to
use a 10 foot strip of land along "D" Street, belonging to the City,
along with a tract of land they propose to lease from the P.G.& E.
Co. for a customer's drive --in and parking lot. The question.of
city responsibility in case of accident arose and the matter was
referred to City Attorney Brooks for investigation.
ADOPTION OF ORDINANC
Ordinan ce 0. 601 C.S. introduced by Councilman Seidell,
seconded by Councilman Penry, entitled, "'ORDINANCE OF THE CITY'
OF PETALUAIA DIRECTING THE TAX COLLECTOR TO SELL TAX DEEDED PROPERTY
OWNED BY THE CITY IN THE MANNER PROVIDED BY SECTION 27 of ORDINANCE
NO. 28 C.S. "came up regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
NEW BUSINESS:
Mayor Woodson reported that there will be a joint ,meeting
of the members of the City Council; the Directors of the 4th District
Fair; the City Attorney, the Park Commissioners, and Mr. A. E. Snide.,.,
Chief of the Division of Fairs and Expositions of the Department of
Finance of the State of California, on November 20th, at 7 o' - clock
to discuss matters pertaining to the use of Kenilworth Park.
Sidewalk repairs to be ordered made:
.. was called to the-dangerous conditioh of many
of the sidewalks in Petaluma which have been cracked, broken or
uprooted by trees, and the Superintendent of Streets was directed to
make" a survey of all sidewalks needing repair and to notify the
property owners to repair them at once or the city will proceed with
the work which will then be charged to the property owner.
Councilman Seidell reported having attended a recent - meeting
in "Santa. Rosa of Legislators, Supervisors and members of the State
Highway Division at which matters pertaining to the - improvement of state
highw4ys and ways and means of financing said improvements, we 're 'discussed...
He reported that Supervisor Kennedy had proposed the construction of the new
truck route through Petaluma as one of the most important improvements
to be' ,sponsored in this section. Mayor Woodson reported that Supervisor
Kennedy,is going to Sacramento to discuss the proposed truck route with
the head of the'Engineering Department of the State Division of Highways,

`Councilman King reported that the Finance Committee has approved
the, request of the Library Trustees for a new furnace for the Library,
to cost approximately $1200. . City Attorney Karl Brooks was asked to
prepare 'the necessary papers to create a. fund for this expenditure.
Councilman Seidell called attention to the fact that the center
section -of D Street meeds filling with asphalt. This work will be
included with similar work to be done--on many of the major city streets.
Matters pertaining to a County Airport were discussed; it being
the c onsensus of opinion that an airport to be maintained' by - the' u
should be centrally located and within reasonable distance of Petaluma.
Councilman Brown reported that Mr. Johnson of the C.A-.A. would be'in
Petaluma this week to meet with the Airport Committee of the - Chamber of
Commerce and the City Council there will probably be a discussion
of this matter.
The matter of selling tax deeded property on 5th & Mt.View
was discussed and referred to the City Attorney.
