Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor Woodson.
ROLL CALL:
"Present: Councilmen Brown, Deiss, King, Penry, Seidell, and
Mayor Woodson .
Absent: Councilman Myers.

were read and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
e month y reports of the:. Auditor,. Poundmaster, Wharfinger,
Treasurer Police Judge. and Chief of Police were read and filed.
The: Clerk rep the filing of Affidavit of Publication
of Notice of Sale of Tax Deeded property.
The - Auditor. reported the apportionment of the sum of $118,580.12
in ° the Unapportioned Fund to the various funds entitled thereto.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTTEES:
Me Finance omm ttee su rotted its report,-whereupon
Resolution #5771 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by Councilman Brown, directing
the AU'ditor'to draw warrants (Nos. 1469'to 1659 inclusive) against the
various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the
Finance Committee, adopted.by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
PETITIONS AND COIWUNICATIONS :
ommun ca ion from ity Attorney Karl Brooks submitting,drafts
of leases which he prepared pursuant to directions, of the -C6iiricil ,
copies of which he forwarded to the Fourth District Agricultural
Association, read, filed and laid on the table pending approval from
the District Agricultural Association.

Resolution #5772 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by :Councilman Brown, directing
the Auditor and Treasurer to transffer the sum of $1750. from the .
General Fund.to the Music Fund in accordance with Amendment #19 of the
Charter of the City of Petaluma, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, l absenteE
Bicycle rack for State Theatre:
The matter of placing a bicycle parking rack in a desirable
location'at the northwest end of Center Park to eliminate the parking
of bicycles on the sidewalks near the State Theatre was referred to the
Street Committee and the Chief of Police with power to act.
The matter of providing proper drainage for the corner of 2nd
and. "E" Streets was brought up by Mayor Woodson and referred to the
Superintendent of Streets for action.
Councilman Penry called attention to the fact that the taxi
companies in Petaluma are occupyIng between 10.and 12 parking spaces
and.re..commended that this number be cut. Mayor Woodson suggested
treat the Street Committee contact the taxi companies and see if they
will not agree to conduct their business without the use of parking
. s tal 1 s .
Mayor Woodson reported that there is the sum of $1611. now in
the Miscellaneous Revenue Fund from which an estirnated $1200. can be
drawn-to install a new heating system in the public library. He
asked that the Library Board be advised to prepare plans and specificat�
ions for the furnace so that the City can call for bids for said
improvement.
It was reported by Sanitary Inspector A. H. Stein that the
Royal Tallow and Soap Co. had discontinued dumping objectionable
garb age * at ' the City Dumps.

.Councilman Penry reported that Thompson Greek, as wela as
the drainage ditch on the Perry property below the City, functioned
we'll during t'he recent heavy rainstorms.
Re - Junk Yard at Baker &... Stanley Sts
A delegayion of property owners in the neighborhood of
Stanley and Baker Streets, headed by Mr. !Chas. Fite and Mr. C'. `C.
Frey, addressed the City Council, asking that the City Council take
step's terminate the nuisance created by the operation of the
Junk Yard conducted by Mr. George Matthias at 507 Baker Street,.
Those present complimented Mr. Matthias for his'good work during
war years in collecting salvage materials for the war effort but=
objected to the present unsightly appearance of the property,, as
we 'the fact that the yard in its present condition attracts
tats and is a - health menace., They asked. that the use of the
- p`roperty be confined. to its original auto parts business on the
seale�'that said business was conducted at the time the present
Zoning Ordinance went into* effect
The matter was referred to , City Att orney Karl Bro.oks for
investigation, the City Engineer being directed to furnish 'the
City Attorney with necessary maps of the property.
