READING OF, THE JOURNAL:
Thee minute of the last regular meeting of June 3rd, 1946, were
read and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
e monthl reports of the Librarian, Treasurer, and Auditor,
were read and filed.
The Clerk reported the filing o.f Affidavit of Publication of
Notice .of Sale of Personal Property by the City of Petaluma.
Court. St. Grades;:
-The�City Engineer submitted a written report on the grades for
Court St. as shown on the official map of the City of Petaluma, being
a street 40 "feet wide and having sidewalks 8 ft. wide. Filed.

directing the Clerk to advertise for bids for the official advertising
for the. fiscal year beginning July 1, 1946} adopted by 6 affirmative

Accepting 5 •strip of. land for street purposes from `aVm. Deiss & wf.
Resolution #5827 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Seidell, accept -
ng from William Deiss and Marie J. Deiss, their dedication for street
purposes by Quit Claim Deed dated May 24, 1946, covering that certain
five foot strip of land .which was not dedicated for street purposes
or otherwise and shown as a five foot strip on that certain map
en.tltled, "Map of Linda Vista Subdivision,' etc. filed June 23, 1927,
in book '47 of Maps, - page 12, Sonoma County Records, adopted by 6
affirmative votes, 1 absentee.

Approval of map of La Cresta:
Mr. J. DeLucca submitted the map of La Cresta Subdivision
prepared, by J. C. Oglesby; including - the -- dedicati of certain
streets `for public use.
The map was reviewed by the members of the Council arid-'
by the. City Engineer, who raised 'a ,question of whether or�. not
this map, might not conflict with the map of Fuller Subdivision
filed some years ago and which designated certain other streets
for public use..
It was pointed out that "the streets dedicated on the Fuller
Subdivision Man for public use conformed. with. areas designated
on the Map of La Cresta but , that said streets bore different
names, whereupon the City Attorney stated that. he had no, legal
objection to the approval of :the map; and'

approving the Map of La Cresta, including the dedication as
streets for public use of the parcels designated and delineated
thereon as La Cresta Drive, Manor Way, Oak Lane,' Haven Drive,,
Scenic Way,. and Summit Way, and accepting said'streets,
by '.6, affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
Investment of bond funds:
Councilman King reported that he had contacted the b ank,s
regarding the investment of the $420,000, bond money_ which Ls
now on deposit and which 1t is- contemplated will not. be used
in the immediate future, °and that he expected to have a report
on said investment by the next•meetng.of the City Council.
In order that the work of installing the:digestor coils
at the Sewage Treatment Plant may proceed, the Superintendent,.
of Streets was directed to have the hangers for the coils.
replaced.
Rental of Shoe Factory:
City Attorney Brooks reported that he had prepared a
rough draft of the proposed lease of the Shoe .Factory to the
assignee of the R.W.-Burrows Co. for approval but so.far had
not heard regarding it. In the meantime the premises are
under rental for $150. per month.
Councilman Penry reported that-he had received complaints
regarding the use of the Council Chambers"as a polling place
-- the'objection being that it is a hardship for some voters
to climb the stairs. The matter was taken under consider-
ation .
Re — dredging River:
Councilman. Brown reported on the condition of Petaluma.
River, stating that several shoals have deireloped in the River
since the last dredging and. that it is anticip ated that the
River .will.be dredged this year. In this connection he
recommended that the City'Engineer make a survey of suitable
dumping areas for the dredging spoils. City Engine.er
Gonzalez reported that the McNear Co. property located'on
Lakeville highway, containing some 36 acres, would accommodate
all of the d re dgings .

introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by Councilman Brown,
adjourning the meeting to Friday, June 28th,1946 at 5 o'clockP.M.
adopted by 6 affirmative v otes, 1 absentee.
Mr.. Art Sonkson addressed the Council as spokesman for
the members of the Police Department, outlining the plans of
the.-officers who are each to take a two months service.t raining
course in S anta Rosa,. sponsored by the Sonoma County Peac
Officer's Association, and- which is equivalent. to the T.,B..I.
training. He stated that they were doing this on their
own time and in order t o better serve the City.
He also referred to the resolution adopted by the Sonoma
County Peace Officers Association regarding wage increases
and asked that the City Council consider wage increases for
the.members of the Petaluma.Police Department.
The matter of furnishing grades and liners to Hunt & Behrens
who are improving their property on Bridge Street was recommend-
ed by Councilman Penry and referred to the Street. !Cogamittee
and City Engineer. °
