Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor - Woodson.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilmen Brown, Reiss, Myers, Penry, and Mayor Woodson.
Absent: Councilmen King, and Seidell.
READING OF THE JOURN
'ITie minutes of the last regular meeting of June 17, 1946,
the adjourned meeting of June 28th, 1946, were read and approved as
recorded,. -
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
- The m� onthly reports of the Poundman, Rodent Exterminator,
Treasurer, Police Judge, Chief of Police, and Auditor, were read and
filed.
The annual reportsof the Rodent Exterminator and the Poundman
were read and filed.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
The F nance Commi ttee submitted its report, whereupon
Resolution #5832 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Myers, direct-
ing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 1 to 3 inclusive) against the
various * Ci ty Funds in payment of claims . and approved by the
Finance Committee, adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees.
PETITIONS AND- COMMIUNICATIONS -:

and a copy of the Sonoma County Streets and Highways_ Plan
booklet, was read and filed.
Communication from War Assets Administration, in form of
purchasers copy of notice of award and balance due on equipment
to be purchased by the Fire Department, was read and referred to
the City Attorney for proceedure for payment.
A letter from Mr. L. C. Eckman, requesting a permit for
the use of a loud - speaking system from his airplane to advertise
for local merchants from the air over t he City of Petaluma, was
read and filed for future consideration.
Resignations from 0. 0. Cobb, W. Ivan Liddle, and A. S.
Leavitt as members of the Music Commission were read and filed
and action on the resignations was deferred pending the appointment
of their successors.
INTRODUCTION'OF ORDINANCES:
Grade of Court St:
Ordinance No. 609 C.S. introduced by Councilman Penry,
seconded by Councilman Deiss, entitled,
' ORDINANCE FIXING THE CURB LINES AND
_ESTABLISHING THE GRADE OF COURT STREET "
was read, approved by the City Attorney, and
Resolution y/5833 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Deiss,
directing the City Clerk to publish said ordinance, adopted by
5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees.
New Auto - Police Dept:
Ordinance No. 610 C.S. introduced by Councilman Brown,
seconded by Councilman Deiss, entitled,
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A NEW FOUR
DOOR SEDAN AUTOMOBILE, FOR USE BY THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT, AT A PRICE NOT TO
EXCEED THE SUN OF $1500. AND THE ALLOW-
ANCE FOR THE SECOND -HAND 1942 MODEL PON TIAC
FOUR DOOR SEDAN AUTOMOBILE, ENGINE No. N31043
(EXCEPT THE TWO SPOTLIGHTS, SIREN,, RADIO, BOSCH
GENERATOR AND REGULATOR THEREIN TO BE RETAINED
BY THE CITY) TO BE TURNED IN AND APPLIED ON THE

directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the sale -of
said automobile, adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees.

Ordinance No. 611 C.S.. introduced by Councilman Deiss,
seconded by Councilman Penry, entitled.,

LEASE BY THIS CITY OF THE FACTORY BUILDING AT THE CORNER
OF WILSON AND JEFFERSON STREETS .TO R. W. BURROWS, CO. INC.,

NEW BUSINESS :
Occupational training:
Mr...W. E. Smith of the Industrial Relations Board,
addressed the Council, relative to specialized training for
World War Veterans who are members of the Police and Fire
Departments. The matter was referred to the Finance Committee
for .study and conference with Mr. Smith.
Recreation Program:
Resolution ,#5836 C.S.
introduced.by Councilman Myers, seconded by Councilman Brown,
repealing Resolution ,#5804 C.S. and ap ropriating the sum of
$500. which, together with the -sum of 500. which the Youth
Council of this City will deposit with this City, shall be
used for the purpose of conducting a summer recreation program
for the children of this City under the supervision, control
and management of the Park Commission of this City, adopted by
5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees.
A proposal for changes - in the grade on Madison and Vallejo
Streets, to serve new homes under construction, was referred to
. City, - Engineer S. Gonzalez and (Councilman J. E. Penry, Chairman
of the Street Committee.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the meeting,
the meeting was declared adjourned.
