ROLL- CALL: Present: Councilmen Brown, Deiss, King, Myers, - Seidell, and Mayor Woodson. Absent: Councilman Penry. READING OF THE JOURNAL: .The minutes,Qf t e last regular meeting of November 18 1946, were read and'approved.as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFICE9S.: The monthly reports of the Auditor, Treasurer, Police Judge, Chief of Police, Poundmaster, and Rodent Exterminator, were read and REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES: .The Flnance Comm ee submitted its report, whereupon Resolution #5885 C.S. introduced by'Councilman King, seconded by Councilman Brown, directing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 1305 to 1465 inclusive) against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS: Re-quest--from Cari ers for permission to use a broadcasting device on the front of their stobe to broadcast Christmas Carols for the period from November 30 to December 24, read and filed, whereupon Resolution #5886 C.S. introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by Councilman Myers, granting said request, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Communication from the Pacific Gas & Elec. Co. enclosing a copy of their analysis of electric rates under - Schedule P -1 for the Sewage Pumping Plant located at 2nd and B Sts. read and filed. Application of Harry Benton, for the position of Collector of the City Sales Tax, read and filed. Advice from the Board of Directors of the 4th District Agricultural Association to the effect that they are exercising the option granted them in the Lease between them and the City of Petaluma,-made the lst day of July, 1937, by which the 4th District Agricultural Association is granted the use of Kenilworth Park for fair and exhibition purposes for the period of ten years with an option of ten years additional, read and filed. INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES: Ordinance No. 619 C, introduced by Councilman Brown, second- ed by Councilman Seidell, entitled, "AN ORBINANCE OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AMENDING SECTION 6009 and SECTION 6009.1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 616 C.S..., ENTITLED:, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA PROPOSING A SALES TAX - AND A USE TAX FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF SELLING TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY AT RENTAL; PROVIDING FOR PERMITS TO RETAILERS; PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION AND PAYING OF SUCH TAXES`; AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE PROVISIONS ,.HEREOF." was read, a pproved by the City Attorney,'and Resolution #5887 C.S. introduced by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman directing that said Ordinance be published in the manner and for the period required by the City Charter, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. 1 1 . , NNN BUSINESS: 0 JOE TUTTLE - Sales Tax Collector: Resolution #5888 C... introduced by Councilman King, seconded by Councilman Brown, appointing Joseph Tuttle as Deputy Tax Collector and Assessor at the sum of $225.00 per month, commencing the 2nd day of December, 1946, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 abuentee.
