The Clerk reported that 58 Absentee Ballots had been filed for
=the ju ne `Loth General Municipal election and that
the signatures
°: of the voters on each-absentee voterfa *ballot had
been compared with
that oh the original Affidavit of Registration of
the voter in the
office of the County Clerk at Santa Rosa, and had
been found to be
the same signature.
The Council organized as a Board of Election.,
Councilman Myers
being--appointed Inspector, Councilman - Seidell, Midge, and Councilmen
Brown and as Clerks, and proceeded to open and count the 58
Absentee Voters Ballots in the manner provided by
law.
:Thereafter the City Council proceeded to canvass the election
returns of the 17 Consolidated precincts with the
following result:

declaring the result of the election and determining and finding
that Leland H. Myers, Walter J. Minogue and Leigh S. 'Shoemaker
were elected Councilmen of the City of Petaluma for the full term
of 4 years; that Mrs. Helen Putnam and Dr. C. A. Stimson were elected
members. of the Board of ,Education of said City for the full term of
4 years; and that a majority of the qualified electors and voters voting
at said election voted in favor of the adoption of the Charter prepared
o and proposed for the City of Petaluma,by the Board of Freeholders
elected the 30th day of December, 1946, adopted by 7 affirmative
votes.

the Entertainment and Promotion Fund to pay the expenses of the
Petaluma Municipal Band at the Sonoma Centennial, 3onoma,.California,
and-appropriating the sum of $3).00 from the Entertainment and
Promotion Fund to the Music Fund for use by the_Music Commission
in the celebration of Flag Day, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Clerk to advertise for Official
Resolution #5963 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Myers, seconded by Councilman Deiss, directing
the Clerk to advertise for bids for the official advertising for
the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1947, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Cherry Valley Impv:
Councilman King reported regarding the water main for said
district that he had talked with Manager Hill of the California Water
Seri Co. who stated that there are not .enough users there to warrant
them putting in a 6 water main and that he was going to explain this
matter to Mrs. McGovern.
H Councilman Myers reported that a street light had been installed
at Laurel St. and Shuman Avenue.and that otherwise the lighting of
that district was satisfactory.,
Dredging Project:
Councilman Brown reported that the dredging operations began
- last- Friday and that it had been necessary to do some bulldozing on
the Walls property to fill up the low spots but that it had not been
.necessary to build spillways.
Charter:
City Attorney Karl Brooks reported that he planned on submitting f
;the`new Charter to the Legislature tomorrow;, that he had arranged with
- Senator Slater and Assemblyman McCollister to have it introduced and
,approved without delay.
