Adjourned meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma
called to order by Mayor Woodson..
ROLL CALL:
- resent: Councilmen Deiss, King, Myers, Penry Seidell, and
Mayor Woodsona
Absent: Councilman Brown.
Rodent Exterminator, were read and filed.
The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavit
of Notice to Bidders re official advertising.

introduced by Councilman King, seconded'by Councilman Seidell,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 3467 to 3612 inclusive)
against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and
approved by the-Finance Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes,

Opening of bids Official advertising:
This being the time set for the opening of bids for- 'the -
official advertising of the City of Petaluma, the Clerk reported
having received a bid from the Petaluma Argus- Courier,, whereupon
said bid was opened and read, and

introduced by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Seidell,
accepting the bid of the said Petaluma Argus - Courier, and declaring.
said newspaper to be the official newspaper of the of Petaluma
for-the fiscal year 1947-48,,-adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Transfer of funds•:
Resolution #3 C.S,.
introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by Councilman Penry,_t
transferring various City .Funds in order to clear the deficit in
the Fire, Parkand.Street Funds, adopted by 7 affirmative vote's.,
Appointment of Councilman King t perform duties of City Manager:
Resolution #4 C.8.
introduced by Councilman Seidell seconded by Councilman Penry,
appointing Councilman John King to perform the duties of City
Manager of this -City until the appointment by this Council of a
City Manager in accordance with Sec. -23 of Article -6 of the City
Charter, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
The above resolution was adopted .after City Attorney Brooks
stated that he had prepared.the resolution as the only solution to
the problem of issuing city warrants now due to the employees, and
- other claimants of the City.' He stated that he had discuss.e.d,the
matter with the legal counsel of the League of California Cities,
who is familiar with the provisions of the new Charter, and who
approved of the above action, He further stated that the ap point -
ment, Councilman King does not, make him an officer of the.City
or City Manager and.that the only duties which will be performed
by him \,will be of a ministerial nature.
Mayor Woodson pointed out that in taking this action there
is a responsibility thrown on,the City Auditor and Treasurer as well
as on the ln-dividua members of the City Council, in case of le gal
action in the *matter.
Mayor Woodson thanked Councilmen Brown and Penry for the
splendid• work they have done for the City of Petaluma during-their
terms of�.office.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the
meeting, the meeting was declared adj'ournedo
