Brooks reported that in 1939 he had filed a suit against the Sonoma to_recover certain taxes assessed'by the County and paid by the City under Protest,- The decision in the case was delayed until recent- ly whe-h Judge Geary handed down an pop on in favor of the City. Mayor Woodson complimented the City Attorney for his good work. City to oppose water rate increase: Mayor' Woodson - reported that he had noticed that the -°' California Water Service Co. has filed an application with the utility commission of the State for an increase in water rates in this City, which, if granted, will boost the minimum .rate from $1.00. to .$1 ®50. It .was the, consensus of opinion that this application be opposed, and the.matter was referred to the City Attorney for investigation. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Re - Committee for Petaluma's future: City Manager Lohn R. Ficklin reported that the panel of names for the proposed Committee for Petaluma +s future was given to'hm by"Councilman :Shoemaker and that he 'immediately distributed letters of solicitation-to a number of them; that he had so far received're'plies from five with only one refusal; that he expected to have other replies within a few days. ..It,was pointed out by the City Attorney that the matter of Hands for the committeets use was taken care of in the appropriation ordinance just introduced.
