Adjourned meeting -of the Council of the City of
called to order by Mayor Woodson.
` ROLL CALL:
'Present: Councilmen Deiss, Minogue, Myers Seidell, and
Mayor Woodson.
Absent: Councilmen King and Shoemaker.
PETITIONS , COM. &- .PUBLIC HEARINGS:
Petition :opposing .construction of church _Keller & Kent Sts:
Petition7- signed by property owners - in the vicinity bf
Keller and Kent Street`s,, protesting the proposed construction
of a church in said neighborhood and requesting that the
Council take action to prevent such construction, read and filed.
Mr. Mark'Hein addressed the Council stating that the
property ,owners in the neighb'mrhood were of the •opinion. that
the building would not'be a credit - to that area; that. the..lot
has only 50 frontage -and slopes abruptly to the rear and that
said location is not suitable for a' church.
Mr. Fosso also addressed the_Council stating that he
plans to spend - between 10 and $15, 000. for a home - in said
location which he will hot-do if the church is cbnstructed
- there.
The City Attorney, City Manager, and Director of Public
Works were asked to investigate said matter before granting
a building permit.
REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER:
A list of claims approved' by the City Manager for
payment were submitted;

introduced by Councilman Deiss, seconded by Councilman
Seidell, entitled, 'tA resolution approving - the list of claims
and bills (Nos. 1770 to 1824 inclusive) approved by the-City
Manager for payment, adopted by the - following vote:: -~
AYES; Councilmen Deiss, Minogue, Myers, Seidell, and
Mayor Woodson.
NOES: None..
ABSENT: Councilmen King, and Shoemaker.
Re reading of Journal at Council meeting:
Report from the City Manager, suggesting that for the
-purpose -of-'conserving t me, that the -mi-nutes of each, meeting.
be duplicated in sufficient number to provide one copy for
each.Council member, the City Manager, and an official Journal;
that'copies be distributed.to all concerned riot later than
48 hours prior to " date of meeting; during which, they re normally
read and approved; that minutes be approved without.r.'eading,
if no questions or objection is raised and that the file copies
be bound in post binders, or other- suitable device to comprise
the official Journal, - read, filed, and laid on the table
to be considered as a part of the rules of order and procedure.

The monthly reports of the Auditor and the Treasurer
were read and filed.

The Clerk reported the of Affidavits of Publication
of Notice to Bidders re purchase of a new Air Compressor and
engine, and Ordinances Nos® 23,, 24, and 25 N.C.S.

Re - appl.ication' of Calif. Water sSer.Co. for rate increase:
Commixication from the City Attorney re application of
California Water Ser•. Co. for •increase ,in. rates... in which the
suggestion was made that the Chamber.of Commerce would be the
most appropriate organization to ascertain from the consumers
of.the water company in this vicinity what effect the proposed
increases of rates. wi11 have on their various businesses and
welfare.., read and filed.
City.'Manager Lohn Ficklin reported having discussed the
suggestion with Mr. Percy Gliddon,',Secy. of the Chamber of..
Commerce, who'had promised to bring it up at the Director's
meeting to be held on Jan. 13th.
Mayor Woodson stated that Mr. Hau, Vice President of the
California Water Service Co.;.had requested ' perm sbion to
address the City Council informally on..the 19th° of January,
_ on the subject of their application.
Councilman Deiss suggested that this might be the time to

Laemle Taming Co contract:
The matter.of the execution bg.the 14emmie Tanning 000
of a contract between said .company and the City of Petauma
was discussed, the City Attorney stated that because of the
fact that said contract was not returned to the City-within a
reasonable time after it had been ,handed to Attorney Cromwel-1
representative for said Laemmle Tanning Co.., it assumed that
the .contract is 'in full. force and effect.
