Shoemaker, and Mayor Woodson. Absent: Councilmen King, and Seidell. READING OF THE JOURNAL: The minutes of the last regular meeting of April 19, 1948, were read and approved as recorded. PETITIONS, COM. 8-- PUBLIC 11EARINGS: I 'Bid opening - Bitidge St.- bridge: This being the time set'foir opening.bids for the construction of a bridge over Bridge St., the Cle rk'reported having received 7 bids and proceeded'to open and 'read said bids; which were referred to th of Public Works, the City Attorney and the Consulting Engineer for study and recommendation.,, action on said bids to be taken at the adjourned meeting to be held on May 4th, 1948, at 5 otcibck p.m* Bid opening - Main Intercepting sewer: This being the time set for opening bids for the reconstruction of the main trunk sewer crossing Petaluma Creek, the Clerk reported having received 7 and proceeded to open and read said bids, which were referred to the Director of Public Works., the city Attorney,, and,the,-Consulting Engineer for study and recommendation, action on _ said ­bids to be taken at the adjourned meeting to be held on May 4th, 1948, at 5 o'clock P.M. Recommendations of City Plann. re B1dg.Permit ap pl.: Resolutions adopted by'the City Planning Commission were read and filed. - Said resolutions recommended the granting of the following applications: -The Olmsted Co., Inc., Ray Russ., W. F. Turner, Harry Graham T. B. Perierap Dr. J. Mohrman, Olivieri, Methodist Church., whereupon Resolutions No: 93 to 10.0 N.C.S.: inclusive:,, were adopted by 5'affirmative votes, 2 absentees, granting said applications, and Two resolutions of the City Planning Commission recommending the` denial of the applications of C.W. Michaels and Cecil Clippinger were read filed and considered, whereupon. Resolution #101 C.S. introduced by Councilman Shoemaker, seconded by Councilman Minogue, denying the application of 'C. W. Michaels for a building permit was adopted by 5 affirmative votes.,.2 absentees. No action was taken by the Council on the application of Cecil Clippinger for a multiple duplex unit - on Edith Street when Councilman Shoemaker, reported that he felt the applieation might be cleared within thirty days. INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES: Authorizing purchase of 293 street name signs: Specifications for 293 four -way units of street signs., for the City of Petaluma, were read and filed,,-whereupon Ordinance No. 41 N.C.S. introduced. by Councilman Myers, seconded by Councilman..Shoe- maker, entitled, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY' OF PETALUNIA AUTHOR- IZING THE PURCHASE OF 293 'STREET NAME SIGNS,; APPROVING THE 'SPECIFICATIONS COVERING THE LETTERING, MATERIAL AND CONSTRUCTION OF SAID SIGNS AND AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION THEREOF BY 'THE CITY AT THE INTERSECTIONS SET FORTH IN SAID SPECIFICATIONS. tr was read and passed to print by 5 affirmative votes.,. 2 absentees. . . CQNSIDERATION OF UNFINISHED BUS INES`S : Re quest for sewer line .Cherry`Valley: A "delegation of property owners residing in Cherry Valley addressed the Council requesting that the City take steps immediately to' install a sewer system in said district. They pointed that there are many.new homes being built in said district; that due to the type of soil s eptic tanks are not - satisfactory and those already in existence have proved to be a health menace, and should be repl immediately with proper sewer facilities. It was stated that all of'the property owners in the district wish this improvement and are willing,to pay for same but some do not have cash available at this time and they are willing to enter into an agreement with the City for payment of the costs of the sewer .installation on an installment basis. The- matter was discussed and referred to the City Attorney, City Manager and Director of Public Works for investigation and report. Mayor Woodson urged that action be taken in the matter as quickly as possible. ` C0NSIDERATION QF ,NEW BUSINESS .Acceptance of donations: Resolution #102 N.C.S. introduced by Councilman Deiss, seconded by Councilman Minogue, entitled, "Resolution accepting donations from Petaluma Optimists, .20 -30 Club, Washington Grammar"Parent Teachers Association and Petaluma,Elementary, District." adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees.
