.:``";Mosquito Abatement;
-Adelegation representing the Sonoma. Valley Mosquito
Abatement District., headed by Supervisor Lyttle, addressed the
Council,'asking permission to annex the City of Petaluma to their
, Mosquito Abatement District.
They stated that the mosquitos which breed in the salt
Marsh s. in and adjacent to Petaluma are particularly obnoxious -
and care blown by the prevailing winds as far south as San Jose;
that Petaluma as well as the neighboring district would benefit
greatly;if the breeding areas in the Petaluma marshes could be
controjlled.
District Attorney._McGoldrick re Sewed the legal procedure
in connection with the proposed - annexation, stating that in order
to circulate a petition in the incorporated area of Petaluma-
said City must.grant permission so to do. and 'a copy of said
5 resolution be attached to the petition.
The question of a district tax rate was discussed;, some
"of the , members of "the Council being 'of the opinion that the
matter was a County -wide problem rather than "that of the City
