ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Deiss, King, Minogue, Myers, Seidell, Shoe- maker, and Mayor Woodson. Recommendations on traffic control - Com. for Petaluma's Future: Communication from.Mr. James Crase, Chairman of the Committee for Petalumats Future., recommending that synchronized traffic signals be installed as soon as possible at the intersections of Washington St,e and Kentucky 3t, and western Ave. and Kentucky St; that parallel parking be instituted throughout the city; that parking meters be installed as rapidly as possible and that the funds derved.therefrom be used , f'or the purchase of off - street parkiing lots and for. the further solution of traffic problems generally, read, filed, and taken under advisement to be studied by the Council in the near future. Assignment of Personnel of 29 Oct.1948, read and filed. 9Cf REPORTS OF C.ITY-OFFICIALS-: The monthly reports of the Police JUdge,, Auditor,, and Treasurer., were read and filed. Resolutions from the City. Planning-Commission recommending the granting of the applications for build-ing.,permits filed by L.L. Wallace, A. Guerra, and the Poultry Producers of-Central California., read and filed... whereupon Resolutions #237, 238 and 239 N.C.Q. granting said applications, adopted by I affirmative votes. INTRODUCTION. Councilman Myers seconded by Councilman minogue., entitled,, "An Ordinance to amend the salary ordinance No.'56 N.C.S. to provide additional compensation to the Health Officer for physical examinations of employees and applicants for employ- ment was read and passed to print by 7 affirmative votes. ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES: Interim Zoning Ord. re-adopted: OrG 53 N.C.S. introduced by Councilman Shoemaker., seconded by Councilman Myers,.,. entitled., "An - EYnergency Interim Ordinance of the City of Petaluma,.,, State of California., regulating. within said city the use of - land buildings., and structures, the height,,of and space about buildings and structures., and the ground coverage of buildings and structures; providing for the issuance of permits, prescribing penalties for its violation and providing for enforce- ment., and repealing Ordinances in conflict therewith." . Ordinance §33 N.C.S. was adopted by 7 Affirmative votes, which/the Clerk reported had been republished by the Petaluma Angus Courier to correct a typographical error which .occurred in setting the type on the ordinance. UNFINISHED' '•- BUSINESS Hayes Ave.i City Attorney Karl Brooks'reported that the matter of improving Hayes Ave. had been referred to the Director of Public Works for the preparation . of necessary plans and specifications. 1946 Uniform Bldg Code: - The City Attorney reported that an ordinance adopting the 1946 Unif6rm Building Code -is now being drafted.- No action was taken in the matter of the improvement of Payran St. NEW BUSINESS: Repairs to City Hall steps: Resolution #240 N.C.S. introduced by Councilman Dei8s, seconded by,Qouncilman Shoemaker,, entitled., "Resolution authorizing repair qbf City Hall Steps,." adopted , by 7 affirmative'votes. Approving Agreement.s ' with P.G.& E'-' for' elec,.energy-. Resolution #241 N..C.S. introduced by Councilman Deiss.,' seconded by Councilman Shoemaker,, entitled, r ` 6 7 1 1 1 ' RResolution approving ,Agreements with Pacific Gas & Electric Company for electric energy for operation of traffic- control installation.' adoptieff' by - "7 affirmative votes. Authe expend. of $8.00 for photographs - - violations of code: Resolution #242 N.C.S. introduced by Councilman Myers, seconded by Councilman Minogue, entitled t'Resolution authorizing expenditure of not to exceed $ &.00 for the expenses of a photograph or photographs used in connection with arrests - made for violation of the vehicle code, where such arrest results` in .the payment of a fine to the City of Petaluma. t adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Resolution authorizing the payment of charges for medical examinations of applicants who passed the written and agility test for the Police Department, was Withdrawn by Councilmen Minogue and' °Deis . Use of City'Hall as Youth Center: The City Attorney was directed to prepare a resolution for presentation at the,next- Council meeting, permitting the two rooms of the third floor of the City Hall to be used by the Youth Center group, after a request for the use. of said rooms was made by" Mary Andreohi, spokesman for the group. Opposition to location of freeway; A delegation, headed by Max Kortum, addressed the Council on the matter of the relocation of Highway 101,_ asking that-the City Council help them in their fight against the suggested location of the Freeway. It was "the general • opinion" of the = Council that they could not form any opinion in the matter until after the hearing when all of tha facts would be presented and both s ides given an opportunity to be h ADJOURNMENT 4 . There being no further business to come before the meeting, the meeting -was adjourned to Monday, Nov. 8, 1948 at the hour of 7:30 P.M. to consider among other matters the taxi -cab ordinance and bus franchise.
