Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma
called to order by Mayor Woodson.

APPROVAL, OF MINUTE'S
T e minutes of the regular meeting of Nov. 7, 1949, were
approved as recorded.
PETITIONS,, COM.. &: PUBLIC HEARIN
Communication from the Association of Petaluma Teachers,
expressing their interest in local government and stating that they
plan to have a representative attend each Council meeting, read and
filed.
Letter from the Executive Board, Petaluma Junior High School,
stating that they favor the site of the Washington Grammar School as
the site of the proposed new city auditorium,,read and filed.
- Communications from the Division of Highways approving the
award.of contract, on the Main and Western Ave. signal project and
stating that no approval is necessary from them on the award of
contract - on the resurfacing project, read and filed.
Letter from Petaluma Womants Club to the Recreation Director
enclosing donation. of $138.00 for the Youth Center, read and filed.
Application of Gertrude and John M. Reger, 211 Main St. to
State Bd. of Equalization for "On .sale Beer & Wine license, read,
approved by the Chief of Police, and filed.

granting said application for construction -;and, use. of a trailer court,
providing the applicant conform with certain requirements as to plumbing
for said trailers, adopted by affirmative votes.

Plans, sp - ications assessment map., estimate of cost, and
report hn accordance with the Special Assessment Investigation, Limitation
and Majority Protest Act of 1931, for the improvement of Mary and
Madison Streets, submitted by the City Engineer and filed.

The City Attorney reported that the Chamber of Commerce
had requested an amendment to the business license ordinance and he
believed it would be advantageous to adopt a re- drafted ordinance
upon which he is now working.
Re- Purc hase of McKinley School ppty:
Leer from the City-Attorney r� eking the purchase of the
McKinley School property, stating that'he had learned from the Bd.
of Education that in view of the fact that the property is to be
used by the City for recreational and community purposes the .
Board of 'Education is willing to dispose of it at 'the appraised
figure of $15,000. Said matter was referred to the City Manager
and City Attorney to complete negotiations for the purchase of
said property.
The City Attorney and the City Manager were asked to
further explore the possibility of acquiring McKinley School
property as a Park in exchange for t he.sale of Kenilworth Park
to the 4th Dist. Agr. Association.

Amendment to Sales & Use Tax:
City Attorney ar . Broo s su mitted a draft of an ordinance
amending the;sales and use tax to conform with State changes, stating
that it is necessary that the City keep its ordinance up to date°
with the State law. The introduction of this ordinance was
in order that the Council might review the same.

Action on annexation matter deferred:
A Resolution,of Intention to call a Special Election for
the purpose of submitting to the electors residing in certain
territory to be known and designated as "North Addition to the
City , of Petaluma" was introduced by Councilman Myers , seconded

code.

Housing Authority, the . Council presenting three
resolutions which he asked the Council to adopt, waiving.
removal provisions relative to temporary veterans housing
located in the City of Petaluma. Mr. Linthwaite explained
that under this,proposed__chanAe the City of Petaluma will
receive some remuneration. in lieu -of taxes which would' 'be an
amount equal to taxes for services rendered by the City,• such
as fire and.police protection, sewer disposal, etc. The
City Attorney approved adoption said resolutions whereupon

Councilman Minogue complimented Fire Inspector R. N oriel
on the good work he is doing and reported many favorable comments
from the merchants.on his inspection work.
