Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to ordef by Mayor Woodson.

Present: Councilmen Anderson, Brown, Gonzalez, Minogue, Myers,
Shoemaker, and Mayor Woodson.
APPRQVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes of the Council meetings of May 15th and 16th were
.approved as recorded.

Notification from State Board of Equalization of application for
beverage licenses filed by E. L. & W. E. Clark and J. N. Dressen, which
were approved by the Chief of Police, read and filed.
Notice from the League of California Cities of the Institute for
New Councilmen in Berkeley June 9, 1950, read and filed.
Letter from Petaluma City :Employees' Association regarding
equitable salary consideration, read and filed.

CITY MANAGER:
Claims approved by the City Manager were presented, whereupon

Assignment of Personnel under dates of 5/25/50 and 5/31/50 and
Rules & Regulations for Call Firemen read and filed.
The City Manager reported that the firm of Kirkbridge, Wilson,.
Harzfeld & Wallace had furnished a written opinion to the City in which
it was stated that the contemplated special assessment street work would
have to be awarded to a contractor as one unit.
OTHER OFFICIALS
Monthly reports of the City Poundmaster, Rodent Exterminator,
Treasurer, Chief of Police, Auditor, Police Judge and Central Permit
Bureau were read and filed.

City.Attorney, Karl Brooks reported that he had - received certain
factual data from representatives of the P & S. R. R..Rwy. Co., regarding
the drain conditions in 1937 in the vicinity of Bridge Street on the Chris
Beck property and also photographs furnished by the Director of Public
Works' showing the extent of flood conditions in that area last winter. He
stated that he was stridying the legal aspects of this matter and hoped to
be able to make a written report and recommendation to the Council in the
near future.

SCHOOL_ PROPERTIES:
A lengthy discussion w had if. *hick Mr. Thurston Hatch,
Superintendent of Schools requested information regarding what the Council
has decided to do in regard to the Washington and Lincoln Primary School
properties. After the discussion, the matter was turned over to the City
Attorney, Karl Brooks, to commence whatever proceedings are necessary, to
determine the ownership of the properties and right to use and dispose of
the' same.
I Drafts of proposed Rules of Order have been distributed for
study and will bet aken up at a future meeting.
Partial index of Ordinances was prepared by the City Attorney,
Karl Brooks, and distributed to the Council. Brooks was complimented on
the progress of this work.

Cooperative Creamery, Golden Eagle Milling Company, M. F. Berton, and

GARBAGE CONTRACT.
Mr. Arthur Cader stated that it would take four months for a
garbage collection company to prepare for assuming the garbage collection
contract.. He requested that this be taken into consideration and that
the request for bids for collection contract be issued within a short
period. The matter was referred to the City Manager for study.
AMBULANCE SERVICE..
Councilman Shoemaker inquired as to the status of the ambulance
service and after d iscussion the matter was placed in the hands of the
City Manager for report.
