Truck route
Merl the Dept. of Public 'lorks, Diva of Hi hivays ,
approving; the proposed ordinance requiring vehicles carrying;
gasoline and explosives to be driven through the City of Petaluma
only along a route between D St. and Bridge St. from their Inter-
sections with 3rd St. and Drr^idge St. as follows o along D ' St. to
Hopper at.; along; Hopper St. to Tk St. and along 73ridge St.
to Main Street, but stating that their investigations- show that
the pavement on the city street portion of the proposed tnurk
route could not be expected to hold up Emden heavy truck movements,
and that in some locations it is only l8 feet vride, and suggesting
that these . conditions be improved before the signs are positioned
to establish 'the truck route, read and filed.
Councilman Shoemaker a'.cer expressed the opinion that he believed
that so long as the City had now secured anprolyd2 of the oritUiance
from the Division of M-r hisays, that we should route these trucks
off :the dountozm business streets as quickly as possible.
The City 1 1.4 nna ger was a.s`•.ed to obtain estimates of cost for
the su^;�ested immovements to the route.

Tile City Manager gave a rejx on the street paving program

of Petaluma- next i7eek ° and that it will be necessary to temporarily
barricade some of the str eets.
