COT?SIAFR&TION OF f37DS Av ar'd of Garbag C ontract i s e 7 e me s�"et or openin bids for the collection of garbage and rubbish in the City of Petaluma for the period of ten years, the Clerk opened and read Wo bids from the City Gar ba ge Co.,, one of which offered to pay the City the sum of 00 per month for said exclusive contract and agreed to furnish all of the mechanical equipment specifically set forth in the I3otice to Bidders, - the other of which offered to pay the City the sum of `'00.00 per cionth but did not a,,7ee to furnish all or any of the mechanical equipment specifically set forth in rzid Votice to Bidders. The two bids were considered and it was the opinion of the members of the City Council that, in consideration of the difference In revenue to the City, that the bid of X 00,00 per month w as the better bid and should accepted. 1.1r. Adolph Calegar:l, represEmUng the - City Garbage Company addresse the Council, stating tha.v if the bid of '"20 0000 ner month is accepted and they are permitted to use the present equipment, that they mill waterproof all of the tr4cks and will install convass covers thereon. He said that his company is not in favor of the equipment specified in the Notice to Bidders known as load-backers because said equipment requires the lifting of heavy loads a greater distance. Councilman Minogue suggested that publicity be given by the City Tllanaager to the advantages of the ne;7 contract, pointing out that the City t .1 no longer be required to provide and care for a dumping area. as this eaill be provided by the City Garbage Company, and that housevcrives wi11 no longer have to separate garbage and rubbish Which will result in a financial sav3.n.g to the householder. Councilman Drorni pointed out that with the abandonment of the present dumping, area for dumping purposes.. the City vrill be in the po of beer able t o use this property for dumping of dr spoils and that eventually it will b e valuable industrial property.
