Opponents to the improvemnt , .many of whom addressed the Council on the matter, are: A. G. Schenicka. (also representing L.W. Clark); I,ra and I.rs. Jack Stephens; 1 11ur phy Chevrolet Co. Josephine B. Gwinn; 11. H. Gordon; B. Bassi, and Herman Eicher. Proponents were: F. Turner; John olivieri; Jess E. Dabner and the Pacific ti.holesale Poultry Co. In cormnection with the improvement Fire Chief Dan Riel.sen pointed out the need for a urger vti►ater main in that section of the City, stating that the area is now served by only a 4 main and that there is need for greater flee protection. He suggested that it might be well .for° the City Council to establish a Deferi ae Commission somewhat similar to the 1 Commission or Recreation, Park C:oi21'As to c ork with the present officials. City Attorney Brooks stated that a meeting cf City lttorneys has been called for Friday to discuss jwious Civil Defense legislation within the County and that it will be an occasion when the attorneys can mull over the recom,endations made by the League of Cal.ifomia, Cities ilho have suggested the revised ordinance. The matter was referred to th City Attorney for further consideration.
