The matter carte up for general discussion and was referred to the City attorney for an opinion as to what cha might be made in the Charter retarding the designation of the official newspaper which would permit weekly papers to bid on at least a portion of the official advertising. Councilman Schwobeda questioned whether a City could desi8mate more than one official newspaper. Annexation of inhabited territory -m continued 16 on. on e pet on to annex un e erritory, submitted by James 31ackwell, et al, was deferred following advice that the Planning Commission had recommended that Parcel ;12,,included in the petition", be eliminated from the annexation procedings. P:iembers of the City Council and the City T:..n.ager pointed out that at a .recent meeting with the Tad. of Fire Undeniriters it was learned that the building of a new station at :Jashington and Payran Sts., and the purchase of additional equipment would result in sufficient efficiency Points to substantially lower the present fire insurance rates and the aonstnuction of the station would be'undeniritten within an eight year period.
